Characters Of Angeline Quinto And Erik Santos Represent Juan Pinoy

The first encounter of RJ (Erik) and Malou (Angeline) is when RJ complained about the food he ordered in the snack house where Malou works in. The snack house serves the regular and much-needed energy-packed tummy filler of Juan Pinoy. Working early shifts until the close of the day is not easy. It is these everyday encounters that made Malou and RJ become friends. In the friendship, RJ opens up about his dream to work abroad. He shares his family story and find themselves in a budding romance. Eventually, they get married. This love story is not new to the Filipinos. The reality of working hard in life with a dream still waiting to be fulfilled is a common sentiment.

An OFW’s Life Is Not Easy For Any Family

In the course of RJ’s life in Abu Dhabi, a higher standard of living is most evident in his family. They have built their home and seem to have everything. RJ also managed to bring other members of his own family to Abu Dhabi so they, too, can work and live a comfortable life. Although RJ goes home to spend quality time with Malou and Arem every year or so, he has not really seen every milestone in the growth of their daughter. It is some source of comfort to be able to bridge the gap through today’s technology, both through calls and online video chats. However, when RJ experiences a heart attack, the distance between him and his family has just become farther. This is what many OFW families face. The ongoing concern for their loved one’s safety, health and well-being. It is most important to be strong in faith. In addition, being together as a family is most ideal.

Being Comatose Is Serious A Medical And Emotional Condition

According to Medical News Today, a person in a comatose state cannot be awakened. He does not respond to pain, light or sound in a normal way. He is unable to react to his environment. A comatose patient does not have sleep-wake cycles and does not make voluntary actions.

The greater challenge is that when a family member falls into a coma, there are various emotional reactions from the family members and primary care givers. These common reactions include anger, desperation, frustration, and denial. Perhaps the most painful aftereffect is that the patient may have lapses in memory. They may not be able to remember his family, his friends and other significant events of the past.

In the episode, RJ’s mom tells Malou that if it is too hard to take care of RJ, Malou can “bring him back” to his mom and she will take care of her. But Malou is firm and says she cannot possibly do this because she made a promise as his wife. After three months, they go back home to the Philippines to try to live the life they planned before their marriage.

‘Paa, Tuhod, Balikat, Ulo’ And ‘Kahit Maputi Na Ang Buhok Mo’

The episode’s theme revolves around two songs. “Paa, Tuhod, Balikat, Ulo” is a song that expresses how RJ is living his life after recovering from a coma. He is unable to perform normal tasks like going up the stairs and properly brushing his teeth. He has returned to a child-like state when it comes to self-care and daily tasks in living. Malou and Arem constantly sings this song to him to help him remember things he used to know.

“Kahit Maputi na ang Buhok Mo” is the episode’s theme song. It encapsulates the commitment to love in richer and poorer and in sickness and in health. Malou is faithful to this vow and RJ is most blessed. Amidst trials, she remains unconditional. RJ continues in his progress and is slowly being the husband and father he was before the coma. Love conquers all, as they say.
