Although she transitioned from GMA’s “Eat Bulaga” to creating her own name, she took us with her. Her Instagram posts tell the story of how she started as “Yaya Dub” to becoming “Maine Mendoza.”

Maine started in Eat Bulaga in 2015. Eat Bulaga is Philippines’ longest-running noontime show. Her character “Yaya Dub” was an extra to the segment “Juan for All, All for Juan.” There she met Alden Richards who became his love interest in the show.

Bench is a Philippine clothing line created by Ben Chan. It is a staple brand bought by Filipinos who need stylish outfits to wear. In the brand’s 30th anniversary show, Bench chose Mendoza to be their forerunner. “Under the Stars” is the show’s theme. Mendoza looked her best, not to mention her toned body, in a pin-up girl costume.

2. McDonald’s Philippines Brand Ambassador

The fame comes with responsibilities and endorsements. McDonald’s Philippines chose Mendoza and Richards to be their latest brand ambassadors. This is among the veteran Megastar Sharon Cuneta. In 2017, Mendoza opened her own McDonald’s franchise in Sta. Maria, Bulacan. It was a success according to an article from GMA News.

3. Coldplay in the USA

Mendoza is like us; a fan. But before stardom came, Mendoza claimed she’s a fan of the British band Coldplay. They have hits like “Yellow,” “Viva La Vida,” and “The Scientist.” In fact, she’s so much of a fan, that she flew to the United States of America to witness the band live. Sporting a Coldplay merch, Mendoza says the concert was the “best.”

In a span of a year, Mendoza made her name align with other stars in Philippine showbiz. A constant trending topic on Twitter, Mendoza garnered fans in an instant. With that, MEGA Magazine considers her iconic. In MEGA Magazine’s 25th anniversary issue, they gathered all Philippines’ best artists. MEGA chose 25 women to represent 25 years in the business. This includes Pia Wurtzbach, Lea Salonga, Anne Curtis, Angel Locsin, Kim Chiu, and of course Maine Mendoza.

5. Cosmopolitan at 20

Mendoza posted on covers after covers. However, in Cosmopolitan Philippines’ 20th-anniversary issue, she landed upfront again. Wearing a gold, high-slit, dress, she posed like a charm. The headline wrote “Maine Mendoza on milestones and making her mark.”

This is Mendoza’s third magazine cover. Preview Magazine emphasized Mendoza’s ability to stand up. It shows how versatile she is as an artist. She is not a cookie-cutter artist. Because she makes fun of herself. She makes sure she is not perfect. However, people still relate to her.
