On Feb 14, Philippine singer Mark Bautista released his book, “Beyond the Mark.” In it, he opens up about his life, from almost being molested as a kid to coming out as bisexual. Recently, he sat down with GMA’s Jessica Soho for an interview to further explain the contents of the book. He told Jessica that the desire to write his book started in London when he was offered the role of former Philippine president Ferdinand Marcos in the musical “Here Lies Love.”
Mark Bautista, Reasons for going beyond the mark
Mark Bautista wanted to be more open to his castmates and felt like it was the perfect time to be more relaxed in his environment. Mark tells Jessica, “My heart was just so passionate about freedom and feeling ko yung yung soul ko was screaming for whole new nourishment.” He was then attracted to one of his castmates. “Nag-align lang siya talaga lahat,” he adds.
He also said in the interview that he wanted to feel whole and relaxed. He did not want to come back to the Philippines or accept new projects until the book was released.
Jessica said that she read that he doesn’t like labels. Mark says, “I love both sexes. [I am] bisexual.” He adds, “If God will give me the right person para sa akin, I will embrace that.” He also said that he wants to have a family in the future. ‘Friendshift’ with a ‘male friend’
One of the chapters in Mark’s book, titled “Friendshift,” allegedly reveals him being “intimate” with a “male friend.” In an article by Summit Express, it was revealed that the said friend had a girlfriend at the time.
The two friends decided to avoid each other until they were both drunk and got intimate twice. The girlfriend found out and it started drama between the three of them. “It became a spectacle,” he says.
Rumors on intimacy in a car
Earlier this month, a Facebook post claiming it was Mark Bautista’s open letter to someone went viral. When PEP showed it to him, he denied it simply saying, “No.” “Let them buy the book for the real content,” he adds.
