The Voice 2017, Adam Levine, Alicia Keys, Blake Shelton, Gwen Stefani

The Voice 2017 blind auditions are done and all the teams are full. This season, two Filipinas made it to the next round of the show. Before the battle rounds begin next week, let us get to know who these artists are.

Both singers hail from Filipino families who sought their fortune in America years back. Their Filipino roots may well be a big factor of success in the show, if they make it to the finals. When it comes to public voting, Filipinos will support their fellow citizens all the way.

Anatalia Villaranda: An Artist Unafraid To Express Herself

Sixteen-year old Anatalia made a huge splash during one of the premiere audition nights. Giving an energetic and powerful performance of “Runaway Baby,” she had four coaches turning their chairs.

One of the best comments about her came from Alicia Keys, who said that she was “an artist unafraid to express herself.” Alicia noted how she put in a little of her personality in the song. Blake, on the other hand, commented that she had so much energy in her. After the coaches said their piece to try and convince Anatalia to choose them, she eventually chose Alicia.

Anatalia hails from Temecula, California and both her parents are Filipinos who moved to the U.S. She looks familiar because she made it to the semi-finals in the final season of American Idol. She also appeared in the Disney Channel show Shake It Up.

Gaby Borromeo: You Can Win The Voice Like No Problem

This 22-year old from Seattle, Washington, sang “Happy” during the second round of blind auditions. Although she was nervous when she started, she eventually came through. Coaches Adam and Blake turned their chairs for her.

Adam noted her nervous start but he also complimented that she built it up and gave a great performance. He also, “You can win The Voice, like no problem.” Blake on other hand said that her personality comes out when she sings, and that he felt she was smiling while she was performing. Gaby chose to be part of Team Adam.

Gaby shared that she has been pursuing a career in music since she was 15 years old. Growing up in a Filipino family, she learned how to sing with karaoke. From Seattle, she moved to New York and worked with several production houses. Currently, she took a break so that she can join The Voice.

As The Voice 2017 enters the battle rounds next week, Filipinos will surely beam with pride while watching these young Filipina artists.
