Theater fans, have we got the best news in 25 years! Tony award winner Lea Salonga, the original Kim, and Rachelle Ann Go, as Gigi, will both be in the 25th anniversary performance of Miss Saigon recorded live in London’s West End. Cameron Mackintosh, a theatrical producer, announced that to celebrate this extraordinary landmark, the performance will have a cinema screening worldwide, including Manila set to be released on October 20.

According to Theater Fans Manila, the world premiere began in the US on September 22 and will only be screening for seven days in 187 theaters. Australia and the UK will follow with the anniversary performance on October 15 and 16 respectively.
Miss Saigon hit the Broadway world by storm since Mackintosh produced the musical. In 25 years, the show has become a much-adored phenomenon. In the Gala night, Jon Jon Briones will be the Engineer in the recorded performance. Eva Noblezada and Rachelle Ann Go, the West End Revival of Kim and Gigi, will also join the ensemble perform. The finale will include original cast members, like Lea Salonga, Simon Bowman and Jonathan Price. A lot of fans will be star-struck, for sure!
Miss Saigon is the 13th longest running Broadway musical to date. It has been one of every Filipino’s pride starring Filipina Lea Salonga as protagonist Kim. Since its premiere at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, London on September 20, 1989, it has run over four thousand performances since. It closed on October 30, 1999 but opened in Broadway Theatre in 1991. Undoubtedly, the musical created by Claude-Michel Schönberg, Alain Boublil, Boublil and Richard Maltby, Jr., will forever be adored by the world of theater for such brilliance.
