On Wednesday night, Mutya ng Pilipinas Jannie Loudette Alipo-on was crowned queen of the night in the 20th Miss Tourism International pageant at the Grand Ballroom of Sunway Resort & Spa Petaling Jaya, Malaysia. This is the fourth time a Filipina reigned supreme in such a prestigious event.

In an interview with the Philippine Daily Inquirer prior leaving for the competition, she said that since the Filipinos are the best pageant fans, the Philippines will do well. True enough with such a strong support system, all the more was she able to win the crown. She added that the enthusiasm of the Filipinos helps boost confidence an “their prayers are, of course, the driving force for my journey here in Miss Tourism International,” she said. Now that she already has her hands full as she fulfills her role, her profession and her significant experiences before the pageant would definitely be her cutting edge.

1. One of Jannie’s advocacies is to make environmental awareness and preservation a major subject in elementary education. She believes in the importance of education in spreading awareness on the environment during the formative years. She stated this back in 2013 as Miss PH Earth Cabugao in that year’s Miss Earth pageant.

2. Jannie is former “Aksyon” segment host for TV5. She was a regular in the show especially on informative bits like showbiz news and traffic updates. When it comes to TV appearances, Jannie was also one of the 24K Ladies of the famed game show “Deal or No Deal” on ABS-CBN.

3. Her workout routine includes the Speedball. In an Instagram post, Jannie is seen getting in shape with the speedball. She says that it improves eye-and-hand coordination, timing, and quickness. Although it will be “very difficult at first, once you get the rhythm, you won’t want to stop.”

4. In 2016, Jannie spent her birthday with the kids from the National Children’s Hospital, bringing smiles and happy memories. She shared this special moment with her family and friends.

5. Jannie also has a quirky side! She did go viral with “Beastmode,” a video she posted showing just how bad the traffic situation in Manila is.
