You’ve heard of FriendZoned and SeenZoned; now make way for InterpreterZoned, a term that has gone trending on Twitter after the global broadcast of Miss Universe 2016. It relates to situations when instead of using your translator, you answer the question yourself – directly, confidently, and (unfortunately) not in the best way possible (at least for critics).
The tongue-in-cheek reference to Maxine Medina’s interpreter troubles during the Miss Universe pageant has been trending since this morning. Here are some of the funniest and most interesting tweets on InterpreterZoned.

Miss Universe host Steve Harvey asked Maxine, “What is the most significant change you’ve seen in the world in the last 10 years?”
Maxine replied, “In the last 10 years of being here in the world, is that I saw all the people bringing in one event like this, Miss Universe. And it’s something big to us that we are one, as one nation we are all together.”
Naturally, most people couldn’t help but poke a little fun at the candidate.
Of course, some couldn’t help but relate back to romance and relationships.
There was even a reference to Miss Universe 2015, Pia Wurtzbach, thrown in there.
Others were more serious – or at least, really seemed to feel for the interpreter.
Some even found wisdom in the incident.
But in the end, it would always go back to Maxine’s answer.
