Local organizers will put together a special float parade with street dancing for the pageant visitors. Miss Universe in Baguio: Floats for the Beauties Anthony De Leon of the Hotel and Restaurant Association of Baguio (HRAB) and also General Manager of Baguio Country Club shared some details about the event. According to Sun Star, the 24-person contingent will be led by Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach. Much like the Baguio Flower Festival, schools and universities will participate in the street dancing. The parade will feature specially-designed floral floats for Miss Universe. Slated on the second week of January, the float parade will feature four floats in total. Reigning Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach will ride a special float by herself, while three other floats will carry eight beauties each. Miss Universe in Baguio: Private Sector Takes The Lead Aside from the special parade, the beauties will also be visiting the Philippine Military Academy. During their visit, PMA cadets will perform a silent drill exhibition. According to the report, the academy will also provide a 24-man cadet escort. Other historical sites like the Mansion are also included in the itinerary. As mentioned in an earlier Pilipinas Popcorn report, Mayor Mauricio Domogan promised to show “the rich culture and traditions of the Cordillerans.” Private tourism stakeholders in the city successfully negotiated with the Miss Universe organization together with the Department of Tourism to include Baguio in the pageant’s itinerary. As earlier reported by Pilipinas Popcorn, HRAB is taking the lead in raising the needed PhP 15 million to host the event. De Leon earlier mentioned that the local government has yet to pledge support for the hosting. However, he hopes that the organizing group will be able to coordinate with the city government. This will ensure a successful visit. Like PilipinasPopcorn on Facebook for more updates. To send feedback or contribute your stories, email editor@pilipinaspopcorn.com. Facebook Comments
