Miss Universe 2017 Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters and Miss Universe 2016 Iris Mittinerae are in the Philippines for a four-day tour and charity event. They are joined by 14 other candidates who were brought in by the Miss Universe Organization, Front Row Enterprise, and the Department of Tourism. Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach also joined the beauties together with PH bet Rachel Peters.

Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters from South Africa was crowned Miss Universe 2017 during the coronation night at the Axis Theater at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas, Nevada on Nov 26. PH bet Rachel Peters made it as Wild Card but went as far as part of the pageant’s Top 10.

Miss Universe Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters arrived in Manila on Dec 5. RS Francisco and Sam Verzosa of Front Row are to thank for making her visit possible. They worked on having the beauty queens in the Philippines which, according to PEP, costs seven digits. During a press conference held at the Dusit Thani Manila in Makati, RS recalled that as soon as they met Demi, they knew for sure she had to be in the Philippines and that Filipinos would love her. Demi was joined by Iris Mittinerae and Pia Wurtbach during the conference.

The visit was formally announced just two days after the coronation night. It was also then when RS said they had to communicate with DOT for their plans as well. The highlight of their visit includes the Women of Significance gala night at the Solaire Resort and Casino on Dec 7, a visit to President Rodrigo Duterte on the same day, and charity event and fashion show at Sofitel on Dec 9.

Fourteen other Miss Universe beauties are in the Philippines. Miss Spain Sofia del Prado, Miss Korea Cho Se Whee, Miss Croatia Shanaelle Petty, Miss Ghana Ruth Quashie, Miss Brazil Monalyssa Alcantara, Miss Ireland Cailin Toibin, Miss Sri Lanka Christina Peiris, Miss Venezuela 2016 Keysi Sayago, Miss India Shraddha Shashidhar, and Miss Universe Canada Lauren Howe. Joining them are Miss Netherlands Nicky Opheij, Miss China Roxette Qui, Miss Italy Maria Miriam Polverino, Miss USA Kara McCullough, Miss Malaysia Samantha Katie James, Miss Russia Alexandrova Kseniya, and Miss Great Britain Anna Burdzy.

According to the Department of Tourism, the ladies will be divided into three groups to visit tourism sites on Dec 8. Miss Universe 2017 Demi-Leigh will be in Batanes while Iris Mittenerae will be in Camiguin. some will be in Bohol.

Meanwhile, on a side note, the beauties were at Jollibee in Biopolis, Pasay City on their second day to be with kids from the Kanlungan sa Er-ma. They were with Miss Universe president Paula Shugart who celebrated her birthday as well. On Twitter, Jollibee and Miss Universe posted photos of the event.

This was Miss Universe 2017 Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters first visit to the Philippines. A report by the Inquirer says Demi already had an idea about the warm Filipino Hospitality from Miss Universe 2016 Iris Mittinaere. She said, “I’ve been wanting to come to the Philippines, it’s my first time. And to do it as Miss Universe is even more special.”
