Ten days to go and the world will crown a new Miss Universe. This year’s competition will happen in Las Vegas, U.S.A., and the coronation night will be aired live from The AXIS in Planet Hollywood on Nov. 26. Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach returns as a judge, while Steve Harvey reprises his role as host.
Miss Universe 2017: Hosts, Judges And Other Details
First thing you need to know is that according to the pageant’s website, Steve Harvey returns as host of this year’s live event, making this his third time. This also comes two years after he mistakenly announced the winner at the 2015 Coronation Night, calling Ms. Colombia instead of Ms. Philippines. Second, Ashley Graham also returns as backstage host.
Third, during the preliminary competition, which will not be aired, Filipino-American producer Cecilio Asuncion joins the judges panel. Along with other judges Marketing Director Morgan Deane, modelling scout Isabelle Lindblom, tech company CEO Bill Pereira, TV personality and host Megan Olivi, and Miss Universe 1998 Wendy Fitzwilliam, Asuncion will help choose the top 15 finalists. These 15 finalists will be announced at the coronation event.
Pia Wurtzbach As Judge During Coronation Night, Fergie And Rachel Platten To Perform
Fourth thing you need to know, is that the Philippines’ very own Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach on the other hand, will have a hand in choosing the next winner. She joins other judges including TV personality Ross Matthews, internet personality Lele Pons, makeup artist Jay Manuel and Fitzwilliam and Olivi.
Fifth, singer and female vocalist of the Black Eyed Peas, Fergie will perform at the live event. She recently released her second solo album Double Duchess. Rachel Platten, the singer behind the hit Fight Song, is also set to sing at the pageant.
The Philippines will be represented by Miss Universe Philippines Rachel Peters.
