“This is the side I am trying to bring to the Miss Universe competition. The side of life that is so rare to find: self-worth and self-love.” These were the words of Miss Canada 2016 Siera Bearchell on an Instagram post two days ago, as she put down body-shaming bashers saying she has gained a lot of weight.
Miss Universe Canada 2016 ‘Losing points’ Because Of Weight Gain
In Miss Universe Canada Siera Bearchell’s Instagram post, she shared the story of how she was recently asked why she gained weight. The person who asked said she was “losing points” because of her figure.
Siera answers the question on Instagram saying, “While I am first to say I am not as lean as I was when I was 16, 20 or even last year, but I am more confident, capable, wise, humble and passionate than ever before. Her confidence is very evident as she used a photo of her in her swimwear bearing her natural figure using it to maybe make a point.
Miss Universe Canada 2016 stood up body diversity, self-love and self-worth saying, “As soon as I started to love who I was rather than always trying to fit what I thought society wanted me to be, I gained a whole new side of life.”
She went on to say this “new side of life” is what she is trying to bring to the Miss Universe competition. Stressing that self-worth and self-love are rare now a days. She closed with the statement saying, “We always focus on the things we wish we could manage rather than loving everything we are.”
