The Miss Universe Organization has announced the lineup of judges for the Miss Universe Pageant, both for the preliminary events and the coronation event on January 30, Monday. According to an announcement via the organization’s website, former title holders Dayanara Torres and Sushmita Sen will join the judges panel.
Sushmita Sen, Dayanara Torres Confirmed As Judges
Former Miss Universe title holders Dayanara Torres and Sushmita Sen have confirmed that they will coming back as judges during the coronation. Aside from the official announcement, Torres and Sen took to social media to express their excitement in their role as judges.
Sen, through her Instagram account, said that she was “coming home” to the Philippines after 23 years. She fondly remembers because she won the crown in 1994 here in the country. Sen is the first Indian to hold the title.
The Miss Universe Organization earlier confirmed that Torres will be judging both the preliminary competition and the coronation. Torres shared on Instagram that she is back with Manila Genesis which is the talent agency that she worked with after her 1993 reign. Some reports say she may be planning to go back to Philippine showbiz soon.
Earlier reports claimed that another former Miss Universe, Lupita Jones will also be judging the competition. Jones herself denied this, instead saying that she is here in the Philippines to support her candidate, Miss Mexico.
Miss Universe Pageant Judges Lineup
According to the Miss Universe website, the following judges will sit in the panel for the preliminary competition:
- Dayanara Torres, Miss Universe 1993
- Cynthia Bailey, former model and founder of The Bailey Agency
- Fred Nelson, President and Executive Producer of the People’s Choice Awards
- Rob Goldstone, former journalist, publicist and international marketing director
- Francie LeFrak, social entrepreneur and activist
- Riyo Mori, Miss Universe 2007, Japanese actress, dancer, model
For the coronation night, the following judges will choose the next Miss Universe:
- Sushmita Sen, Miss Universe 1994, Bollywood actress, entrepreneur
- Leila Lopes, Miss Universe 2011, from Angola
- Mickey Boardman, Editorial Director, PAPER.
- Dayanara Torres
- Cynthia Bailey
- Francine LeFrak
