The Department of Tourism (DOT), sponsors and representatives signed the contract at the Makati Shangrila Hotel on Wednesday night. During the launch, Shawn McClain, the Miss Universe Vice President for Marketing and Business Development said, “We couldn’t be happier to announce that the next edition of the Miss Universe, the 65th annual pageant, is gonna happen right here in Manila in January.” The coronation will be at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City. It will start at 8:00 a.m. and will run until 11:00 p.m. 65th Miss Universe will be broadcast live in 190 countries. McClain tells CNN that the show would be good for the country most especially in tourism. He said, “We wanted it to be a really timely show, so we want to make sure that by the time it happens, we’re going to have the most relevant talent, the most relevant musical acts and that it’s going to draw a lot of attention, You’re gonna love it.” McClain also tells reporters that they will be bringing in a team of around 400 people and they will be visiting different places and showcasing what the Philippines has to offer. Chavit Singson, LCS Group As Pageant’s Official Host LCS Group headed by Chavit Singson will be the pageant’s official host. This private sector together with Solar Entertainment, Inc., SM Lifestyle Entertainment, Inc., and Okada Manila will pay for the pageant’s cost amounting to around P 638.1 million. Chavit Singson said all local local TV networks will be able to broadcast the pageant upon the request of President Rodrigo Duterte. He said, “Lahat ng channels, Channel 7, Channel 5, lahat na.” 65th Miss Universe Pageant, PH Bet Maxine Medina The 65th Miss Universe pageant is the third time that the Miss Universe will take place in the Philippines.
