The MMFF 2016 parade will kick off on Quiapo Day, December 23, at 1:00 p.m. The parade begins at the Manila City Hall at Nicanor Lopez Street and will end at Plaza Miranda. Mocha Uson Is MMFF 2016 Ambassador, MMDA In an Inquirer report, MMDA officer in charge Tim Orbos said Mocha Uson embodies change. He said, “Change should not be limited only to a certain sector of society, it should be all-encompassing. The changes in the film fest, it’s for everyone and [Uson] embodies that because she cuts across all sectors as proven by what she has done in the past election.” Mocha Uson is a sexy entertainer and blogger who has over four million followers on Facebook. Her aggressive support for President Rodrigo Duterte has made her more popular and more controversial. President Rodrigo Duterte also showed his support for this year’s MMFF as he urged Filipinos to watch with him and be a part of it. In the Mocha Blog Facebook Page, Mocha posted a video ad of this year’s MMFF. The video opened with the line, “Ako po si Mocha Uson. Ngayon ang taon ng pagbabago, suportahan po natin ang pagbabago sa MMFF 2016. She captioned the video sending a message clarifying some issues. Mocha Uson mentioned she didn’t choose to become an ambassadress, she’s just willing to help, she’s doing it for the greater good and she’s not getting paid for any of it. It seems to be a message for bashers on social media. Mocha made sure media understood her side as she tagged almost all media outfits in her post, adding the Presidential Communications, and other individuals as well. Changes On MMFF 2016 The exclusion of “The Super Parental Guardians” and “Enteng Kabisote 10” starring Vice Ganda and Vic Sotto respectively on this year’s MMFF created quite a stir. The actors themselves, critics and the public had mixed reactions on the choices of films. Some thought it was not a good idea since films by Vice Ganda and Vic Sotto have always been there and are crowd-drawing. But some thought it was about time to have more ‘artistic films’ on the list. In the report by the Inquirer, Orbos said that even if this year’s film festival won’t surpass last year’s earning, the MMFF 2016 is already a success for encouraging producers to come up with “artistic Filipino films.” Facebook Comments
