Netizens stormed Twitter on August 22 and 23 calling for Presidential Communications Office Assistant Secretary Mocha Uson to be sacked after yet another online blunder on Tuesday. Uson posted a screenshot of an article about the wake of a dead cop, killed during an anti-drug operation. The news report however was published back in 2016, according to CNN Philippines.
In her post, which has since been deleted, she asked Vice President Leni Robredo and other opposition senators when they were going to visit the wake, and captioned it “Waiting..” This is in reaction to news reports about the Vice President and other prominent opposition members visiting the wake of 17-year-old Kian Delos Santos.
Calls To Fire Mocha Trends On Twitter
According to CNN Philippines, the hashtag Fire Mocha topped Twitter trends in the Philippines after netizens got wind of Uson’s post and apparent blunder. One of the top tweets came from Twitter user Frank Baraan IV which said: “Uson’s the epitome of everything a public servant should never be: Purveyor of lies, author of fake news, sharer of propaganda. #FireMocha”
Yet another Twitter user named Uson for the awards she should get as a “hardworking public servant.” And these are, according to JC Gabertan, “Miss Communication, Miss Information, Miss Representation.”
Uson, a staunch supporter of President Duterte, was appointed to the PCOO in May. Back then, she also drew online flak when she called for prayers in support of soldiers in Marawi but posted it with a photo of Honduran policemen.
Victim Of False Accusation On Facebook Files Complaint
In related news, a Facebook user will face complaints of false accusation for posting a photo of a man with Vice President Leni Robredo, identifying him as the policeman who killed Kian. According to a GMA report, Aina Castillo posted the photo early this week and it went viral afterwards.
Another Facebook user however saw the post and said that the man was in fact his stepfather, Alberto Florentino III, who was not a cop and definitely was not involved in the shooting of Kian. The Angono Public Information Office also disputed the claim, and said that the man was an Angono resident and is an active Nazarene devotee. The photo in question was taken in 2016 during the campaign period, according to the Angono PIO.
Florentino has filed the complaint with the National Bureau of Investigation, according to the report.
