Moira Dela Torre is a singer and songwriter who started her career singing corporate jingles like that of McDonald’s song, “Hooray for Today.” Her other projects include singing jingles for Surf and Johnson and Johnson commercials. Her career took a big turn when she joined The Voice Philippines Season 1 back in 2013. She was coached by international rapper and judge Apl.De.Ap of the Black Eyed Peas.

Moira Dela Torre’s “Tagpuan” music video was directed by actor and dancer John Prats. Since posting, it has had around 300k views on YouTube. Celebrities’ reaction to the music video is proof that it is not just another video you would appreciate on a normal day. In one of Moira’s video on YouTube seen below, celebs like Julia Barretto, Gary and Gab Valenciano, Vice Ganda, Yeng Constantino, and Sam Milby at first thought they were watching another Moira hit. By the time they realized it was more than that, they couldn’t help but hold back the tears.

Sure it’s a cheezy, sweet, tear-jerker kind of a video. But there is something more to it that could probably change how we look at love and the whole idea of dating. Here are some of the reasons why Moria’s “Tagpuan” music video can change your life.

1. It’s something real. The video shares Moira’s life. On “Gandang Gabi Vice,” she shares that she wanted to “incorporate the fact that she comes from a broken family.” This is something a lot of people can relate to. In the video, it shows a father who left her daughter at a young age. This is followed by clips of Moira crying and we all know these tears aren’t just for show. You can feel the hurt that Moira felt but then that hurt doesn’t linger. There is a sense of peace.

2. There is hope. Moira was very intentional in bringing out a message of hope. In a tweet seen below, Moira says, “The message of this music video: Just because your past is broken, doesn’t mean your present & future will be, too. There is so much hope. So much hope. This music video is my life story.” The video sends a powerful message to everyone who has gone through or who are going through the same struggle that life doesn’t end just because of the hurt from the past. You can be strong and hope that things will get better and know that it will. Just look at Moira’s life. She chose to make things better and she chose to believe that it will get better, and it did.

3. A love story written by “Bathala,” it takes more than two people to make it work. Moira and Jason have been just friends for around 7 years. It was until Jason decided to take Moira to Olongapo and ask the blessing from her parents if he could court her. This is something not a lot of young people do nowadays. Sadly, liking a photo or putting a heart emoji can already mean “tayo na.” Moira shares in a report by PEP that she wrote “Tagpuan” which was meant to be a breakup song. For some reason, she just couldn’t finish the song and it took her two years to finish it. But that trip to Olongapo changed everything. Looking at Jason made her realize her true feelings and that’s when she realized the song was about hope and not about hurt.

In Moira’s music video, Jason gave a speech before he got down on one knee. He said, “Sa moment na ‘to, tayong tatlo lang. Ikaw, ako, at si God.” Moira and Jason have something that we miss in relationships. It’s that faith in God knowing that He is love and that without Him, without the author of love, love cannot work otherwise. Moira’s video makes us believe not just in love again, but in the fact that love cannot work without God in the center of it all.
