Every year, children no matter the age, get to show their love and appreciation for the greatest woman in their lives – their mother. When is Mother’s Day in the Philippines, you might ask? This year it falls on the 2nd Sunday of May, gestures whether small or grand, bring smiles to moms all over the world. Perhaps, aside from their birthdays, this is the best day to be thankful for the heroines in our lives.
Show Your Appreciation For Your Mom On Mother’s Day
1. It’s your turn to feed her. For most of your life, your mom has always been the queen of the kitchen. She makes sure that there is food on the table during meal time. More often, she also considers mealtime as family time, when everyone is at the table and sharing a meal.
If you have the means, splurge on a special meal at her favorite restaurant. If your mom is an adventurous food eater, why not introduce her to cuisine that is beyond her comfort zone. You can also spring for those Mother’s Day buffets on offer.
You don’t need to go out to be able to show your mom how grateful you are. Prepare a special lunch or dinner for her, with the help of other members of the family. She will surely love being out of the kitchen for a while and later on enjoy the meal you have made for her.
2. Arrange a staycation for her. A staycation can either be staying at home or staying at a quiet place. Wherever she is, the key is that she is not worrying about anything else, aside from enjoying some quiet time.
You can leave her by herself at home, even for just a night. Some mothers would even appreciate having some alone time even for only a few hours. Don’t forget to set her up with everything she needs – food, a good book to reach, her favorite coffee or tea, or maybe even a favorite bottle of wine. If you have money to splurge, arrange for a spa day at home. A massage, a facial, and some pampering will complete her relaxing day.
3. Bring her on a road trip. Our moms may rarely have the time to go on a vacation. Surprise her with a weekend road trip, ideally to a place where she can stop thinking about work and have some fun. It does not have to be fancy or expensive. Your mother will enjoy any trip that is spent with the ones she loves. To find the perfect place, try and recall if she has that one dream destination that she has always wanted to go to. Or maybe get her to try new things with you.
4. Get her a gift that is well-thought of. Gift-giving these days is made easier with so many ideas and choices made available. If you are getting your mom a gift, here are some questions you need to consider: Is it something she can actually use? Is it something she needs? You can also show your mom that you put in so much thought in your gift. And you can do this by choosing local products by local businesses. Some moms will appreciate how you have grown as a person who cares about others.
Make everyday Mother’s Day
For mothers, there can be days when everything is going well, at home, at work, and in the family. There will also be days when not everything is going smoothly. On any of these days, the best thing you can do for your mom is to be thankful for her. In your own small way, celebrate Mother’s Day every single day. All moms deserve as much.
