The Equalizer 2

The month literally just passed by! It’s the last week of August and what better way is there to end it than to spend a good two hours or so watching films like “The Equalizer 2,” “The Hows of Us,” and “Kin”? So, set the date and go on a movie date with your special someone, your barkada, your brood, or yourself! There’s absolutely nothing wrong with spending some me-time, right?

Movie Mix August 29: A Marathon-Worthy Playlist

“The Equalizer 2” brings back former Defense Intelligence spy Robert McCall (Denzel Washington) in his plight to serve justice. Only this time, it’s for someone he really loves. The vigilante thriller is a sequel to “The Equalizer” which was released almost four years ago. “The Equalizer 2” is the fourth film between that director Antoine Fuqua and Denzel Washington collaborated in. The other films they both worked in are “The Equalizer,” “Training Day,” and “The Magnificent Seven.” Other cast members include Pedro Pascal, Ashton Sanders, Melissa Leo, and Bill Pullman.

Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla star in the much-awaited romance drama, “The Hows of Us,” directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina. This is the second film where the couple collaborated with Garcia-Molina after “She’s Dating the Gangster” (2014). In the movie, Kathryn is George while Daniel plays the role of Primo – a young couple who are faced with the dilemmas that come along with maturity. “The Hows of Us” has been given a PG rating by the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB), and was graded “A” by the Cinema Evaluation Board (CEB).

“Kin” is a sci-fi action film based on the short film “Bag Man” (2014). It tells the story of a boy and his brother under parole who come across a strange weapon with a mysterious origin. Since they found it, they find themselves running for their lives as they are pursued by a notorious criminal and a gang of strange soldiers. The film stars Jack Reynor, Zoë Kravitz, Carrie Coon, Dennis Quaid, James Franco and Myles Truitt.
