The last movie week of September is extremely exciting with these sure-fire movie hits: “Exes Baggage,” “Marjorie Prime, ” “Night School,” “Papillon,” “Peppermint,” and “Small Foot.” Movie Buffs will surely get everything they need from swoons, sighs, laughs, childishness, thinking clouds, and a dose of angst from every movie scene and plot from this week’s movie mix. And of course, seeing the performances of some of the best actors both from the national and international movie scene will surely be something to look forward to.
Movie Mix September 26: Ending the Month with a Bang
If you’re a Pinoy movie fan, you should have “Exes Baggage” at the top of your list this week. With the many reasons to watch it, you would surely not want to miss out. The rom-com delves into the sentimental topic of breakups. It is directed by Dan Villegas and is the first film produced by Black Sheep Productions. It also reunites real-life exes Angelica Panganiban and Carlo Aquino after their 6-year relationship. The tells the story of Pia and Nix – two people who are trying to get over their own heartbreak. They instantly make a connection that grows into a relationship. Will it work out?
“Marjorie Prime” is a science fiction film based on a play written by Jordan Harrison. The plot is set to the year 2050 where an 85-year-old woman named Marjorie begins to fall to Alzheimer’s disease. To help her cope, the family hires a service called “Prime.” The company creates holographic projections of family members who have passed away to help them remember significant things in their lives. The film stars John Hamm, Geena Davis, Lois Smith, and Tim Robbins.
“Night School” will surely leave you laughing out loud most of the time especially with the comedic charms of Kevin Hart Tiffany Haddish, Rob Riggle, Taran Killam, Romany Malco, Keith David, and Loretta Devine. Basically, the story is about a group of adults who want to earn their GEDs by attending night school. The movie is written by Kevin Hart himself along with Harry Ratchford, Joey Wells, John Hamburg, Nicholas Stoller, and Matt Kellard.
“Papillon” is a biopic that stars Rami Malek, Charlie Hunnam, Yorick van Wageningen, and Eve Hewson. It features the story of a French convict named Henri Charrière, a.k.a. “Papillon,” who was imprisoned in the year 1933 and escaped through the help of a fellow convict Louis Dega (a counterfeiter) in 1941.
“Peppermint” is a vigilante film starring Jennifer Garner. The action thriller is about a mother named Riley North who wakes up from a coma after her family was brutally killed by murderers who are shielded from justice. Riley, then resolves to take justice in her own hands which turns her into an urban guerrilla.
“Small Foot” will hit the theaters on September 27. It stars the voices of Channing Tatum, James Corden, Zendaya, Common, LeBron James, Gina Rodriguez, Danny DeVito, Yara Shahidi, Ely Henry, and Jimmy Tatro. The animated comedy adventure film is about a group of Yeti who encounters a human which they only think of as a myth.
