Skyscraper, The Rock

The movie line up makes it a lot easier to deal with so much of the goings-on this week. With films like Skyscraper, I Love You Hater, Kickboxer: Retaliation, and Ouija House, cinema buffs will have at least two movies they’d like to put into their movie marathon playlist. Besides, with the week almost done, it makes perfect sense to grab some tickets, buy some popcorn, and just blow off some steam by watching films on a TGIF night.

So, move over Office Desk and Paper Work because this weekend’s company is way better than you especially with the likes of Dwayne Johnson, Neve Campbell, Kris Aquino, Julia Barretto, Joshua Garcia, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Christopher Lambert, Mike Tyson, and so much more. To this, we say, “Bring the weekend on!”

Movie Mix July 12: A Mix of Genres worth Watching

“Skyscraper” stars Dwayne Johnson and Neve Campbell in the action film written and directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber.  Will Sawyer (Dwayne) and his wife Sarah (Neve) live in the “safest” skyscraper in Hong Kong with their family after being in the service with the FBI. When terrorists attack the skyscraper, also known as “The Pearl,” Will is left with no choice but to act. However, things take a turn when he is framed for the attack. What’s worse is that his family is trapped in a building overtaken by fire.

“I Love You Hater” marks the comeback of Kris Aquino to Star Cinema. The film directed by Giselle Andress tells the story of two rivals Zoey (Julia Barretto) and Joko (Joshua Garcia) who both apply to be Sasha’s (Kris) executive assistants. Sasha, a former broadcast journalist,  owns a media empire that grew out of a successful digital content production. “I Love You Hater” is the third film where Julia and Joshua have starred together.

The Kickboxer franchise returns with “Kickboxer: Retaliation,” a sequel to the 2016 film, “Kickboxer: Vengeance.”  The American Martial Arts Film features action stars Mike Tyson, Alain Moussi, Christopher Lambert, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Ronaldinho, and Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson. The plot takes place a year after the events in “Kickboxer: Vengeance” including Kurt Sloan’s vow to never return to Thailand. He, however, finds himself back in Thailand after being sedated and taken by a group of people who want him to defeat Mongkut, a 6’8″-400-lbs fighter in return for his freedom and $1M.

“Ouija House” shows what happens when a sinister game takes over its players.  The movie is about a grad student who invites her friends to a house with a questionable and mysterious past. In that house, they play a game innocently at first, not knowing that they unleash a great evil beyond their control. “Ouija House” stars Tara Reid, Mischa Barton, Dee Wallace, Carly Schroeder, Chris Mulkey, and Tiffany Shepis.
