Movie Mix October 17: A Week of Firsts and Provoking Plots

“First Love” is a film produced by Star Cinema and directed by Paul Soriano. It is about a calculated businessman named Nick (Aga Mulach) who meets a spontaneous and impulsive photographer named Ali (Bea Alonzo).  Both personalities are drawn to each other and find a serendipitous connection. Their friendship easily grows into so much more but with Ali having a congenital heart disease, their future seems to be uncertain. Ali does all she can to inspire Nick to keep seizing the day while Nick tries to find his own way to give Ali a new “lease on life.”

“First Man” is a biographical film based on the book, “First Man: The Life of Neil A. Armstrong” written by James R. Hansen. The plot revolves around the significant years leading to the 1969 Apollo 11 mission to the Moon. Ryan Gosling stars as Neil Armstrong and the story is brought to life by fellow cast members Claire Foy, Jason Clarke, Kyle Chandler, Corey Stoll, Ciarán Hinds, Christopher Abbott, Patrick Fugit, and Lukas Haas. Steven Spielberg is an executive producer.

“Air Strike,” also known as “Unbreakable Spirit,” is a Chinese war film about the Japanese bombings in Chongqing, China during World War II in 1943. It stars Bruce Willis, Song Seung-heon, William Chan, and Liu Ye. Mel Gibson is also part of the film as art director. The film was released as a memorial for the Allied victory’s 70th year anniversary.

“I Still See You” is a thriller film that stars Bella Thorne, Dermot Mulroney, and Richard Harmon. The film is based on the novel, “Break My Heart 1000 Times” written by Daniel Waters. It is about the world being inhabited by ghosts after an apocalyptic event nine years before.
