October isn’t going away that easily, that’s for sure! With this week’s playlist, movie buffs will have more of the most exciting thrills with films like “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “The Nutcracker and the Four Realms,” “To Love Some Buddy,” “All Souls Night,” “Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween,” “Hunter Killer,” and “Suspiria.” So, choose your best two or three (or all of ‘em, right?) and let the movies take the driver’s seat so you could get that much-needed escape from the grey rainy weather.
Movie Mix October 31: All the Right Feels and Thrills All Week
“Bohemian Rhapsody” is a biographical film about the life of Freddie Mercury, lead singer of legendary British rock band “Queen.” The film also shows the events that lead to Queen’s “Live Aid” performance in 1985 at the Wembley Stadium. Although the film has received mixed critical reception, the performance of Rami Malek as Freddie has been more than praised. Other cast members include Lucy Boynton, Gwilym Lee, Ben Hardy, Joseph Mazzello, Aidan Gillen, Tom Hollander, and Mike Myers.
“The Nutcracker and the Four Realms” is a retelling of the stories “The Nutcracker and the Mouse King” by E.T.A. Hoffmann and “The Nutcracker Ballet” by Marius Petipa. It is about a young girl who finds a Nutcracker doll among the family’s Christmas gifts of which she becomes responsible for. The film’s all-star cast includes Keira Knightley, Mackenzie Foy, Eugenio Derbez, Matthew Macfadyen, Richard E. Grant, Misty Copeland, Helen Mirren, and Morgan Freeman.
“To Love Some Buddy” is a film by Jason Paul Laxamana that stars Maja Salvador and Zanjoe Marudo. Its story gives a glimpse into what happens if two people in a so-called platonic relationship as best friends fall in love with each other after being hurt. “To Love Some Buddy” is the second film of Black Sheep, a production outfit under ABS-CBN Films.
“All Souls Night,” directed by Aloy Adlawan and Jules Katanyag, is about a caregiver named Shiela who responds to an ad to take care of a man who is ill for three days. While staying in the family, she experiences dark and strange things. Andi Eigenmann plays the role of Shiela in the movie.
“Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween,” a horror-comedy film based on the children’s horror book series by R.L. Stine, is about two boys who release Slappy the Dummy and the other Goosebumps monsters in town. “Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween” is a sequel to the 2015 film, “Goosebumps.”
“Hunter Killer” is a submarine film based on the 2012 novel “Firing Point” written by Don Keith and George Wallace. It is about a group of Navy SEALs on a mission to rescue the captured Russian President from a coup. Gerard Butler, Gary Oldman, Michael Nyqvist, Common, Linda Cardellini and Toby Stephens star in the film.
“Suspiria” is a remake to the the 1977 film of the same name which directed by Dario Argento. The plot is about a young American dancer who gets in a prestigious dance academy which is actually controlled by a coven of witches. “Susperia” 2018 is directed by Luca Guadagnino and stars Dakota Johnson, Tilda Swinton, Chloë Grace Moretz and much more.
