Truth and Justice – Of all things held dear, it is these two words that “Justice League” stays true to. The DC Comics superhero team consisting of Batman, Superman, Wonderwoman, Flash, Aquaman and Cyborg unite to fight the Parademons and prevent Steppenwolf from “remaking” Earth. The film was released on the 25th anniversary of The Death of Superman comic, which was released November 17, 1992. This date also marks the 16th anniversary of Justice League (2001) which premiered its first episode on November 17, 2001.
Andrew Garfield and Claire Foy bring the story of polio-stricken wanderlust to life in “Breathe.” The film revolves around the true love story of adventurous couple Robin and Diana Cavendish defying all impossibilities when Robin is paralyzed in his early 20’s from the neck down due to polio. Their story is a remarkable and inspirational celebration of the human spirit of courage and love.
Miguel Rivera chases after his dream of being a popular musician in “Coco.” In Miguel’s family, music has been banned for generations because his great-great-grandfather left the family for his music. Tthe only relative who understands Miguel is his great-grandmother, Coco. A day came when he saw a picture of Coco and her husband, Miguel’s great-great-grandfather, with a guitar that was all too familiar to Miguel because it looks like the guitar of his idol, Ernesto de la Cruz. Miguel then ventures on to find out if he really is a direct descendant of the greatest musician of all to him.
“Suburbicon” is an American crime comedy film directed and co-written by George Clooney. The film stars Matt Damon, Julianne Moore, and Oscar Isaac. It is about a father who is forced to face his own demons after his quaint neighborhood is shaken by a home invasion in the year 1959. The movie premiered at the 74th Venice International Film Festival in September 2017 and also screened at the 2017 Toronto International Film Festival.
Vince Vaughn stars as a former boxer and laid-off truck driver who gets caught up in a drug deal in “Brawl in Cell Block 99.” Bradley Thomas (Vaughn) used to be a family man with a regular job until things started falling apart. For one, his wife gets a miscarriage affecting their relationship. And then, he loses his job and succumbs to drugs to make a living. When a drug deal turns bad, Bradley ends up in prison. To make matters worse, Bradley’s wife is kidnapped by a gang that asks him to kill one of the inmates in cell block 99.
“Trip Ubusan” is said to be more than just a spoof on the Korean zombie apocalypse thriller, “Trip to Busan.” Jose Manalo, Wally Bayola and Paolo Ballesteros make up the lead cast of of the feel-good comedy film about a group of lolas who get so engrossed at planning their granddaughter’s birthday celebration. To make things unforgettable, they decide to include an out-of-town trip. But then, instead of some R&R, they get the fright of their life when they encounter a zombie outbreak.
