With such a brilliant list of movies coming out this March, it is quite possible for cinema buffs to declare movie holidays every week. Eight of these most anticipated films that fit into the must-watch category include “Red Sparrow,” “Death Wish,” “Tomb Raider,” “A Wrinkle in Time,” “Ang Pambansang Third Wheel,” “Pacific Rim Uprising,” “My Perfect You,” and “Never Not Love You.” Of course, it is also expected to get the best of these films with some of the best actors in filmmaking, both here and abroad.

Movie Mix March 2 to 6: Red Sparrow, Death Wish, and Peter Rabbit
“Red Sparrow” is a spy thriller based on the 2013 novel of the same name by Jason Matthews. In the film, Jennifer Lawrence is Russian ballerina Dominika Egorova who is recruited to “Sparrow School” by the Russian intelligence through her uncle. Dominika’s assignment involves seducing a Russian politician in exchange for her mother’s medical care. In the process, the task can expose a mole in the CIA and in the Russian Intelligence service. Joel Edgerton, Matthias Schoenaerts, Charlotte Rampling, Mary-Louse Parker, and Jeremy Irons are also part of the ensemble. The movie is directed by Francis Lawrence and written by Justin Haythe. Bruce Willis stars in “Death Wish” as Dr. Paul Kersey, a trauma surgeon who has saved many lives. His life takes a drastic turn when his family is attacked by gruesome robbers. At that day, both his wife and his daughter were brutally attacked by the notorious criminals. Paul is now left with no choice but to get justice his own way. Not many people know this, but the film is a remake of the 1974 film of the same name based on Brian Garfield’s 1972 novel. Watch the trailer here.
Beatrix Potter’s children’s classic, “The Tale of Peter Rabbit,” is now a live action film entitled, “Peter Rabbit.” It stays true to Peter wanting to enjoy Mr. McGregor’s vegetable garden with his friends. The animated film stars the voices of James Corden (Peter Rabbit), Fayssal Bazzi (Mr. Tod), Domhnall Gleeson (Mr. Jeremy Fisher), Sia (Mrs. Tiggy-Winkle), Colin Moody (Benjamin Bunny), Sam Neill (Mr. McGregor), Margot Robbie (Flopsy/The Narrator), Elizabeth Debicki (Mopsy), Daisy Ridley (Cotton Tail), and Rose Byrne (Jemima Puddle-Duck). Get excited with the movie mix on March 7 with “A Wrinkle in Time,” “Ang Pambansang Third Wheel,” “The Strangers: Prey at Night.” It is highly recommended to start the 7th of March with “A Wrinkle in Time” starring Storm Reid, Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon, Mindy Kaling, and Chris Pine. The film is based on the 1962 classic science fantasy novel written by Madelaine L’Engle. It won the Newberry Medal, Lewis Carroll Shelf Award and the Sequoyah Book Award. It also was a runner up for the Hans Christian Andersen award. It is one of the earliest works to have mentioned the word “tesseract” that is famous in the Marvel franchise, setting the perspective on time travel decades ago. Watch the trailer here.
“Ang Pambansang Third Wheel,” tells the story of a woman, Yassi Pressman, who always ends up the third wheel in every relationship she has had. One day she meets a man (Sam Milby) and eventually the two fall for each other. To the surprise of her life, she finds out that he already has a son. Will she forever be the third wheel? “The Strangers: Prey at Night” is a horror film about three masked psychopaths who torment a family staying in a mobile park one night. It is a sequel to the 2008 film, “The Strangers.” Watch the trailer here.
The wait is finally over with “Tomb Raider” on March 8. Lara Croft makes a comeback with Academy Award Winner Alicia Vikander. The action-adventure film is based on the 2013 video game and is a reboot to the Tomb Raider series. The story revolves around Lara embarking a journey to the island in which his father disappears. Vikander herself was a fan of the said videogame while she was growing up. She put on a lot of muscle to play Lara because she wanted the character to be as realistic as possible. On March 14, be sure to hit the theaters for “I Kill Giants,” “My Perfect You,” “Sherlock Gnomes,” “The Titan, ” and “Unsane.” Madison Wolfe, Imogen Poots, Sydney Wade, Rory Jackson, and Zoe Saldana star in the American thriller, “I Kill Giants.” The film is based on the acclaimed graphic novel written by Kelly and Ken Niimura. It tells the story of a geeky girl named Barbara Thorson who is into Dungeons and Dragons. Barbara is a social misfit and escapes reality by living out a fantasy world of monsters and magic. She believes that monsters are coming and she has decided to be the one to drive them away. Watch the trailer here.
For the first time, movie buffs will get their dose of “kilig” moments with Gerald Anderson and Pia Wurtzbach in “My Perfect You.” The rom-com is directed by renowned director Cathy Garcia-Molina. It brings the story of a woman named Abi (Pia) and Burn (Gerald) to life. When Burn decides to go to Zambales after having his marriage proposal rejected, he meets Abi, a camp director who turns his life around. Watch the trailer here.
“Sherlock Gnomes” is a sequel to the 2011 animated film “Gnomeo and Juliet.” In the film, Gnomeo (James McAvoy) and Juliet (Emily Blunt), hire a detective named Sherlock Gnomes (Johnny Depp) to find out why garden gnomes are disappearing. Watch the trailer here.
Sam Worthington returns for yet another sci-fi film “The Titan.” The story centers on an American soldier named Rick who takes part in a scientific experiment that would create new kinds of human beings who can survive an environmental disaster. “Unsane” is a psychological thriller about a woman named Sawyer who finds herself inside a mental institution against her will. Finally, end the month with a worthy movie marathon with “Never Not Love You, “Pacific Rim Uprising,” “Ready Player One” on March 31. James Reid and Nadine Lustre will once again let out all the swoons and sighs imaginable with their new film, “Never Not Love You.” The film portrays today’s contemporary issues in relationships. “Pacific Rim Uprising” is the sequel to the 2013 film “Pacific Rim” that was directed by Guillermo del Toro. This time around, the sci-fi action film is written and directed by Steven S. DeKnight.
