From exciting action-packed thrillers to adorable and heartwarming animated films, this March Movie Madness is packed with a wide variety of movies to look forward to this March 2019. Whether they appear on the big screen or premiering online, there are a ton of movies worth checking out this month. So if you’re in the mood for action, horror, romance, or drama, here are the movies you can look forward to:

1. The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind (March 1)

Premiering first at the Sundance Film Festival, this critically acclaimed film can be found on Netflix. The film, directed by Chiwetel Ejiofor, is based on a true story from its bestselling book. The movie follows the life of then thirteen-year-old Kamkwamba who drops out of the school he loves because he can no longer afford it. He sneaks back into the school library to find a way to provide for his family. Using the bones of the bicycle of his father, he manages to construct a windmill which later on saves his village suffering from famine.

2. Captain Marvel (March 8)

One of the most awaited superhero movies, Captain Marvel was directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck starring Brie Larson. The movie centers on an extraterrestrial Kree warrior in an intergalactic battle against the Skrulls. She lived on earth in 1995, having recurring memories of another life as U.S. Air Force pilot Carol Danvers. With this, she digs deep into her past with the help of Nick Fury in order to harness all the power she can to defeat the Skrulls.

3. Five Feet Apart (March 15)

Romance is still in the air this romance film directed by Justin Baldoni and starring Haley Lu Richardson and Cole Sprouse makes its premiere on the 15th. The film talks about a seventeen-year-old girl named Stella Grant who spends most of her time in the hospital as a Cystic Fibrosis patient. She makes an instant connection with fellow patient Will Newman. They have to maintain a safe distance between them because of their condition, which makes it difficult as their relationship intensifies.

4. Wonder Park (March 15)

Get ready to dive into a world where imagination runs wild. Paramount Animation comes out with a movie where little girl June, voiced by Brianna Denski, creates an entire amusement park built on her imagination. She explores this park with her wonderful animal friends voiced by famous names such as Jennifer Garner,  Mila Kunis, Kenan Thompson, Ken Jeong,  and Ken Hudson Campbell. This movie will surely capture the hearts of kids everywhere.

5. Us (March 22)

The amazing Jordan Peele, director of the award-winning movie “Get Out,” releases a new horrific movie starring Lupita Nyong’o. The thriller begins with Adelaide Wilson and her family returning to her family beachfront home she grew up in. As time went by, Adelaide felt something strange about the atmosphere. Her fears were realized when four masked strangers begin to threaten her family. But when the masks come off, it is revealed that horrifyingly, each attacker takes each of their appearances.

6. Dumbo (March 29)

Another one of Disney’s classics come to life on screen with another live movie adaptation. Dumbo, originally an animated movie released in 1941, centers on a young circus elephant who can fly. In this remake, they flipped the story quite a bit, making it less tragic than the original. A struggling circus owner enlists a man and his children to take care of a newborn elephant. The children later find out, to their surprise, that the elephant can fly. This movie is great for children as well as those wanting to relive their memories of this fine classic tale.
