Popcorn MovieMix March 22: Life, Power Rangers, The Last Word, Chips

Bring out the popcorn, take some soda with you and decide. Go for that energizing movie break because this week’s movie premieres are promising. If you’re into the quest for life on Mars, watch “Life” starring Jake Gyllenhall, Ryan Reynolds and Rebecca Ferguson. If you dig superheroes, the action-packed film, “Power Rangers” will not disappoint. For some comedy with Dax Shepard, watch “Chips.” Of course, if you want to take a glimpse of what retirement really means, “The Last Word” with Amanda Seyfried and Shirley MacLaine will share some insights.

Life:  Martians are better off Unexplored

The American Sci-Fi film stars Jake Gyllenhall, Ryan Reynolds and Rebecca Ferguson. It tells the story a six-man crew on an expedition to Mars in the International Space Station. When they analyze the sample taken from a Mars space probe, they discover that extraterrestrial life may really exist. This life form shows itself as being extremely intelligent and cunning. Too intelligent, perhaps, for the human race to handle.

The Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers Blast from the Past

“Go, go Power Rangers!” — Any kid from the 90’s will sing to that anytime and anywhere. From TV Land to the silver screen, fans of the Power Rangers are up for a treat. The mighty morphing Power Rangers are actually five high school students with various personalities. Each one has their distinct super power and when morphed, they become unstoppable as Red Ranger (Dacre Montgomery), Pink Ranger (Naomi Scott), Blue Ranger (RJ Cyler), Yellow Ranger (Becky G) and Black Ranger (Ludi Lin). They will do anything to stop Rita Repulsa, played by Elizabeth Banks.

The Mid-Life Crisis with a Twist – Chips

Dax Shepard, Jessica McNamee and Michael Pena star in the comedy by Warner Bros. Pictures. When two middle-aged Highway Patrol Officers are teamed up for the first time, the usual 9-5 turns into a seemingly unending shift that involves dirty cops and a heist. It is up to the pro and the newbie to catch the bad guys (whilst wreaking havoc in the city). Watch the trailer below.

The Last Word: A Control Freak’s Take on Retirement

The comedy that premiered in the 2017 Sundance Film Festival stars Amanda Seyfried and Shirley Maclaine. It is about a retired businesswoman named Harriet who has done nothing but be in control all her life. When she finally confronts the fact that she really is growing old and is about to retire, she would like to write her own obituary to make sure that her life story is told the way she wants. Anne, a young obituary writer, is kinda forced to work on this. The journey of writing Harriet’s last words is an interesting one. As Anne writes to to tell the truth, she learns a lot more in life through Harriet’s life. Watch the trailer below.
