Movie Mix November 21: An Awesome Combo of Genres

“Recipe for Love” combines two things that a lot of people can’t get enough of: romance and food. It tells the story of how a food blogger named Val falls in love with Calix, a novice chef. The film stars Christian Bables, Cora Waddell, Myrtle Sarrosa, Sophie Albert, Enrico Cuenca, Agot Isidro, Bing Loyzaga and Ogie Diaz. “Recipe for Love” is produced by Regal Entertainment and directed by Jose Javier Reyes.

The timeless tale of “Robin Hood” has been retold time and again. This year, director Otto Bathurst made sure to make this classic cool again with great choreographed fights as a thrilling action-adventure film. Taron Egerton stars as Robin of Loxley, while  Jamie Foxx is Little John. Other cast members include Ben Mendelsohn (Sheriff of Nottingham), Eve Hewson (Marian), Jamie Dornan (Will Scarlet), Tim Minchin (Friar Tuck), and more.

After six years, John C. Reilly and Sarah Silverman return as Ralph and Vanellope von Schweetz in “Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-it Ralph 2.” When the steering wheel controller of the game “Sugar Rush” breaks, Ralph and Vanellope are forced to find a replacement. Now with a Wi-Fi router in the arcade, their adventure leads them to find what they need in the Internet.

“The Girl in the Spider’s Web” is a crime thriller based on the novel of the same name by David Lagercrantz. It is also a sequel to the film, “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.” In this new release, Claire Foy takes over the role of hacker Lisbeth Salander which was previously played by Rooney Mara. The plot starts when Frans Balder is fired from the National Security Agency and recruits Lisbeth to steal FireWall, a program accesses codes for nuclear weapons. Things take a turn when Lisbeth’s laptop is stolen by Russian thugs who also kidnap a math genius who knows how to make FireWall work.

“Bad Times at the El Royale” stars Hollywood A-Listers Chris Hemsworth, Jeff Bridges, Cynthia Erivo, Dakota Johnson, and Jon Hamm. It shows what goes down when seven strangers (a cleric, a soul singer, a traveling salesman, two sisters, the manager and the mysterious Billy Lee) turn a run-down hotel, El Royale, into their battlefield.
