Seven Sundays

The winds seemed to have changed this mid-October, and it kinda means that people are surely going to get busier by the day especially that the holidays are almost at hand. Although this is so, it is important to still remember to go out on those needed leisurely strolls and get tickets to a nearby cinema to assure that any holiday planning will be done with the least amount of stress.

In other words, couch potato, find time to relax and watch a movie so you don’t have to think too much about that growing to-buy/to-do list! Okay?

This week’s playlist is a treat and has something to cheer up the gray days. This week’s movies include the anticipated “Seven Sundays” with Aga Mulach; the French biographic war thriller, “The Man with the Iron Heart;” “My Blind Date with Life,” which is a German romantic comedy; and a Filipino film about OFWs “Balatkayo.”

Movie Mix October 11: Stories About Life

Seven Sundays is a film about the Filipino family and Aga Mulach is truly proud of it. In an article by Star Cinema, Aga said that “Seven Sundays” is worth “your money, it’s worth your time, it’s worth the traffic.” It is a must-watch because anyone can relate to it. The story revolves around four Bonifacio siblings (Dingdong Dantes, Cristine Reyes, Enrique Gil, and Aga Mulach) who choose to come home upon finding out that their father, Tatay Manual (Ronaldo Valdez) has Stage 4 cancer. The film is directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina.

“The Man with the Iron Heart” zeroes in on an ambitious assassination plot. The movie is set in the year 1942 when the Czech resistance in London plans to push through with the seemingly impossible WWII mission called “Operation Antropoid” through two recruits in their late twenties, Jozef Gabcik and Jan Kubis, who are sent to assassinate Nazi leader Reinhard Heydrich in Prague It is based on the novel “HHhH,” written by French writer Laurent Binet. The film’s screenplay is written by David Farr, Audrey Diwan and Jimenez. “The Man with the Iron Heart” is directed Cédric Jimenez and stars Jason Clarke, Rosamund Pike, Stephen Graham, Jack O’Connell, Jack Reynor, Mia Wasikowska, Tom Wright, and Enzo Cilenti.

A visually impaired man fulfills his dreams in “My Blind Date with Life.” Saliya Kahawatte became blind in his teenage years causing him to live life with so many limitations. Now, he wants nothing more than to achieve his dream to be an employee in a Munich luxury hotel even if he knows he literally doesn’t have the eyes for it. His dream comes true but his plan to be undiscovered falls apart when he starts to fall in love. Marc Rothemund directed the film that stars Kostja Ullmann, Anna Maria Mühe, and Nilam Farooq. The film is based on a true story.

“Balatkayo” tackles sensitive issues around the lives of OFWs. The OFW drama by BG Productions is shot in Dubai and Singapore and it features actors Aiko Melendez, Polo Ravales and Nathalie Heart. Its director is Neal “Buboy” Tan and the story is written by “100 Tula Par Kay Stella” writer Jason Paul Laxamana. The film was made due to the recent consecutive scandalous immoralities involving famous personalities as well as ordinary young people.
