The photo was captioned, “Meeting for a new project” tagging the artists’ respective accounts. It turns out, this new collaboration is a Tagalog adaptation of the hit blockbuster Korean film “Miracle in Cell No. 7.” Other stars joining Lustre and Muhlach are JC Santos, Joel Torre, and Arjo Atayde. According to PhilStar, Viva Films tapped Nuel Naval, who also worked with Lustre on “This Time,” to direct. Viva is also reportedly planning to enter the film to this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival. Diary Ng Panget Lustre debuted in the film adaptation of the best-selling Wattpad book “Diary ng Panget” released on April 2, 2014. Aside from jumpstarting her career, the movie also gave birth to Nadine and James’ love team JaDine. The story is about Eva, a poor woman, who later on becomes a personal maid to Cross, a young socialite man. Although the two had a rough start, they soon started to develop romantic feelings for one another. Diary Ng Panget 2. Talk Back And You’re Dead Directed by Andoy Ranay, “Talk Back and You’re Dead” was released on August 24, a few months after “Diary ng Panget.” It’s based on another best-selling Wattpad novel adapted by Viva Films. The film stars the JaDine love team together with Joseph Marco, Yassi Pressman, Candy Pangilinan, and Bobby Andrews. “Talk Back and You’re Dead” is a story of Samantha, a girl who fell in love with a boy named Top, the leader of a gang called “Lucky 13.” The movie tackles the challenges in their relationship. Talk Back And You’re Dead 3. Para Sa Hopeless Romantic In 2015, Viva Films produced another film for JaDine co-starring Julia Barreto and Inigo Pascual. This was “Para Sa Hopeless Romantic” based on the breakthrough novel of Marcelo Santos III. The movie revolves around Becca (Lustre) a student writer in a school publication who still has issues with her ex Nikko (James). Using writing to cope with her heartbreak, she started writing the tragic love story of Maria (Julia) and Ryan (Inigo). The movie goes on to tackle if there was still a possibility for the four characters to have a happy ending. Para Sa Hopeless Romantic 4. Chain Mail “Chain Mail” was Lustre’s first horror film as well as the first solo movie without James Reid. Released on July 22, 2015, the movie follows a group of people who received a chain letter. As requested, some people passed the letter along but, some did not. As a consequence, the people who did not pass the cursed letter were brutally killed. The film also stars Meg Imperial, Shy Carlos, and AJ Muhlach. Chain Mail 5. Beauty and The Bestie In 2015, the JaDine love team joined real-life besties Coco Martin and Vice Ganda in “Beauty and the Bestie.” This film marked the first time JaDine participated in the Metro Manila Film Festival. In the movie, Lustre played as Vice Ganda’s little sister while James played as Coco Martin’s half-brother. The film earned a ginormous amount of 60.4 million pesos on its opening day. Beauty and The Besties 6. This Time “This Time” was the first serious romantic drama of JaDine released on May 4, 2016. The film tackles the story of Coby (James) and Ava (Lustre), childhood friends who only get a chance to see each other every summer. The friendship of the two blossoms to romance. But, they struggled to put a label on it. And as new people cross their paths, their relationship is put to a test. This Time 7. Never Not Love You After a year of hiatus, JaDine came back with a more mature role in their 2018 movie “Never Not Love You.” The film follows the life of Joanne (Lustre) and Gio (Reid), a young couple forced to mature because of life’s circumstances. It tackles how life changes people and the sacrifices and choices we make for the people we love. “Never Not Love You” garnered over 92 million pesos worldwide. Lustre’s performance in the film earned her her very first FAMAS best actress award. Never Not Love You 8. Ulan This year, Nadine widened her horizons and went out of the comfort zone of her love team. Recently, she starred in the film “UIan” alongside Carlo Aquino. The film tells the story of Maya (Lustre) and her fascination and yet pessimistic view of the rain. It also features magic realism including a popular creature in Philippine mythology, the tikbalang.
