Nadine Lustre

“The Nurse” is one of the most anticipated movies of 2018. It is under the direction of internationally acclaimed director Jun Robles Lana. But, before official shooting could even begin, problems have already arisen with its main cast. On March 27, Director Jun Lana announced on Twitter that he was scratching off Nadine Lustre as the lead actress in his film. The day before the news broke out, Lana posted the hashtags “#SorryNotHappening” and “#MovingOn” on Twitter.

One user asked the director to clarify this statement and he didn’t hold back a response.  He explained that he has been waiting too long for Nadine to start shooting “The Nurse.” It’s time to move on and recast. He also mentioned that going to Japan twice to prep for the movie is no joke. On the same day, he posted the statement “My film. My rules.”

Nadine has replied to the issue with the desire to still take on the role. But, so far, no more updates on the film has been released.

Here are 5 things we know about ‘The Nurse’

1. Nadine Isn’t Ready To Let Go

In an interview with ABS-CBN, Nadine Lustre expressed her hopes to still take part in “The Nurse.” The young actress said that the movie had great material. Aside from that, she clung to the fact that it was something new and something different for her. Nadine Lustre admitted that her schedule was tight. But, the teen star isn’t giving up hope yet. “If it’s meant for me, makukuha ko naman yun.”, she said.

2. No More First Solo Project For Nadine as of now

“The Nurse” was supposed to be Nadine’s first solo venture as an actress as CNN reports. Ever since she shot to fame with her role as Reah “Eya” Rodriguez in “Ang Diary ng Panget,” she went on to star in films mostly with James Reid. Currently, she and James are celebrating the success of their latest movie “Never Not Love You.” Now that Director Lana has kicked her out of the “The Nurse,” it seems that the prospect for a solo project will have to wait.

3. Not The First Time

In March, the JaDine tandem was involved in another issue just like this one. During the filming of “Never Not Love You,” Director Antoinette Jadaone caused quite a stir when she expressed her disappointments in a blog post. Though she didn’t specify that it was indeed JaDine, fans were quick to speculate. Nadine reportedly suffered from severe back pains while James was engaged in other activities. JaDine quickly put the issue to rest and revealed that it was all a misunderstanding between the two parties.

4. Not Only Nadine

Schedules are a tough thing to maintain in the entertainment industry. Nadine is not the only one whose schedule conflict lost her an opportunity. In June last year, Director Jun Lana backed out of “My Fairytale Love Story” as reported by ABS-CBN because of schedule conflicts as well. He passed the movie featuring Elmo Magalona and Janella Salvador to his husband Perci Intalan.

5. “The Nurse” Details

One of the film’s confirmed cast members is veteran and renowned actress Lorna Tolentino. The horror movie is supposedly her comeback to the movie industry after her long break. She is also currently working on ABS-CBN’s action series “Asintado.” As of now, there are no reports as to how Lana’s recasting is going. But, the other details still remain. Director Lana and his company IdeaFirst are still set on making the movie. And it will still be shot in Japan which offers amazing locations for horror films.
