There’s a lot of reason to be excited as well. From phone accessories to VR headsets, there are quite a few interesting toys coming up this year. Here are 5 cool upcoming gadgets of 2018. 1. SELFLY Camera Image via SELFLY Camera Facebook Page Drones are cool. Selfies are cool (debatable). The geniuses at SELFLY put the two together into a drone that also serves as a 9 mm cellphone case. Don’t worry, it doesn’t carry your phone into the air with it. SELFLY is expected to hit shelves this year. In the meantime, you can order the gadget at its Indiegogo page for a little over 100 USD. 2. Oculus Go Image via verified Oculus Facebook page Gamers will be familiar with the Oculus Rift. It was among the most innovative advancements in mass-production VR of 2016. Unfortunately, a hefty price tag of 500 USD put the device beyond the reach of many. The Oculus Go aims to change that. The new headset has an early 2018 release with a price tag starting at 200 USD. The best news is that the Oculus Go is designed as an all-in-one unit. No phone or tablet is necessary to enjoy VR simulation. This is in contrast to Gear VR and Google Daydream, which are only compatible with top-end devices. 3. Google Pixel Buds Image via Wikimedia Commons When talking gadgets, people mostly think phones and phone accessories. That includes earphones. In 2016, Apple saw massive success with wireless EarPods. While some people hated the idea of jackless headphones, some loved it. That was enough reason for Google to give their own shake at the accessory. The current iteration of Pixel Buds is only a cut above average at best. Nonetheless, if Google can cut back on its price and deliver more value for its cost, it’s easy to see the next generation of Pixel Buds becoming a crowd pleaser. 4. Dygma Raise Gaming Keyboard Image via verified Dygma Facebook page The Dygma Raise is a keyboard designed with total ergonomics in mind. It is basically a keyboard split into two, with fully customizable layouts. It also features multiple functionality per key. A double-tap on a key can have a different output from a single tap or a hold. The Raise is a bit pricey at the 150-200 Euro range, but for the gamer with money to burn, this will undoubtedly be worth it. 5. Knocki Image via verified Knocki Facebook page Time to break away from the standard portable gadgets. You know all those sci-fi movies where a character enters the room and waves his hand, and the house does things? Knocki is a step closer to that dream. Attaching this small, drum-like device to any surface turns it into a remote. It can control the lights, air conditioning, TV, or stereo. Not enough? It can also ring your phone when you lose it. The downside is that you’ll need one device per surface you want to turn into a remote. Still, quite the innovation. Facebook Comments
