Meanwhile, upcoming national holidays are also set on Oct 31 and Nov 1 for All Saints Day and on Bonifacio day which falls on Nov 30. The Philippines will be hosting this year’s ASEAN summit which will run from Nov 10 to Nov 14. This year’s theme is, “Partnering for Change Engaging The World.” This is the 31st ASEAN summit which also marks the 50th anniversary of the ASEAN. A special celebration called “ASEAN@50” will take place with the Leaders representing the 10 members. This includes Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, LAO PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand, Viet Nam and of course, Philippines. ASEAN Summit 2017, No Classes in Metro Manila on Nov 16 and 17 On Tuesday, the 17 Metro Manila mayors announced the suspension of classes in both public and private schools. As the Inquirer reports, the summit ends on Nov 14 but delegates will be going around NCR on the 16th and 17th, hence the suspension. Government offices, however, are expected to work on those dates not unless Malacañang officially suspends work as well. The ASEAN Summit 2017 takes place in Clark, Pampanga. According to a report by ABS-CBN, top officials and other partnering countries which include US President Donald Trump is also set to discuss trade issues and the North Korean nuclear threat. Security will be tightened during the days of the summit. The report further says NCRPO chief Oscar Albayalde says 19,000 cops will be deployed to secure the event. Permit to carry firearms, on the other hand, has been suspended by National Police Chief Director General Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa. Upcoming national holidays are lined up this October and November. Nov 1 (Wednesday), All Saints Day, is declared as a Special Non-working day with the addition of Oct 31 which is considered as an additional special non-working day.
