President Rodrigo Duterte declares Nov 13 to 15 special non-working days in Metro Manila, Pampanga, and Bulacan. This is due to the scheduled 31st Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit.

Earlier this month, 17 Metro Manila mayors announced the suspension of classes in both public and private schools on Nov 16 and 17. This is also to give way to the scheduled ASEAN summit in which the Philippines will be hosting from Nov 10 to 14. Although the summit ends on Nov 14, delegates will be going around NCR on the 16th and 17th.

Nov 13- to 15 special non-working days, No Classes in Manila Nov 16 and 17

On Monday, Oct 23, President Rodrigo Duterte declared Nov 13 to 15 special non-working days in Metro Manila, Pampanga, and Bulacan. The Monday proclamation No. 332 says the Philippines will host the 31st ASEAN summit and Related summits on 13-15 November 2017. It also states various activities directly connected with the summit which will be attended by ASEAN leaders and dialogue partners will be held in the NCR and Clark Field, Pampanga.

The proclamation also states that “The ASEAN 2017 National Organizing Council has recommended that 13-15 November be declared as special (non-working) days in the National Capital Region (NCR), Provinces of Bulacan and Pampanga, as these areas will be directly affected by the said activities.”

These special non-working days are an addition to more upcoming holidays. Special Non-working holiday on Oct 31, All Saints Day on Nov 1, Class suspensions in Metro Manila on Nov 16 and 17, and Bonifacio Day on Nov 30.
