Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation, also known as KOMSCO, an organization responsible for creating actual money and the Pyeongchang Olympics medals, worked with some expert currency designers to create a special commemorative medal for EXO.

In a report by Soompi, KOMSCO said that they produced the special commemorative medal for EXO because the group continues to stand at the center of the ‘Hallyu Wave.’ EXO is the first ever K-pop group to reached millions of sales in four different albums after their debut in 2012 and is now the first ever K-pop group to receive a commemorative medal.

EXO Commemorative Medal Design

EXO’s logo and a commemorating phrase were placed at the back of the medal while the featured faces of all the nine remaining EXO members were printed on the front side. The latent images have been applied using the latest technology to prevent any possible forgery.

Sizes and Packages

All the medals are identical but they differ in size and packaging. The medals have two kinds of packages- the special package and the regular package.

The special package medal has a limited quantity and it comes with a round silver medal which weighs 31.1 grams and has a diameter of 40 mm. Aside from these, purity is at 99.9 percent.

Similar to the special package, the regular package also comes with a round silver medal. The only difference between the two is that the regular package weighs 15.55 grams with a diameter of 28 mm. The purity is also 99.9 percent. This package has a regular displaying case.

How to order

EXO fans and K-pop fans can order the special package in advance starting on April 23. There are only 5,000 medals and 100 sets available so all fans should hurry. On the other hand, fans can pre-order the regular package starting on April 30. Medals to be made will be based on the number of pre-orders received.

A person is restricted to purchase a single medal and a set so each order should be on the package. As of now, there are no other details on the prices and order methods.

Meanwhile, three EXO members namely, Suho, Baekhyun, and Kai attended and participated in the official medal ceremony on April 18.
