James Corden, on the other hand, called them the biggest band in the world. This created quite a stir on Twitter sparking a sort-of fandom war between BTS and another boy group who have been topping charts since 2011, One Direction. BTS aka the Bangtan Boys have been getting a lot of attention recently specially so that they are currently in the US for a number of appearances. The seven-member group from Seoul flew to Los Angeles On Nov 14. They appeared on James Corden’s Late Late Show that day and were guests on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Nov 15. They are set to do a radio interview with Mario Lopez on the 17th and are due to attend the American Music Awards on Nov 19. BTS will also be on the Ellen Show on Nov 21. Click here to know their itinerary while in the US. There is no stopping this group especially when they were recently nominated for International awards and became part of TIME’s 25 Most Influential People this year. Don’t forget the recent trophy they got for being the Top Social Artist Award at the 2017 Billboard Music Awards. Their fans are popularly known as the BTS Army and are found all over the world. One Direction, on the other hand, popularly known as 1D, is an English-Irish Pop boy band who made its way to fame through The X Factor UK in 2010. Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Harry Styles, Louis Tomson, and Zayn Malik have been sweeping ladies off their feet with their music and good looks since they first appeared on the hit TV reality show, all thanks to Simon Cowell who brought them together. Their success has been propelled by social media and their five albums since 2011. The boy group has had 6 Brit Awards, 4 MTV Video Music Awards, 11 MTV Europe Music Awards, 7 Music Awards and 29 Teen Choice Awards. Their fans are known as One Directioners. 1D is now on hiatus as members have decided to pursue other projects. BTS vs One Direction on Twitter As soon as fans noticed how BTS was introduced on James Corden and Jimmy Kimmel’s show, the hashtag #1DisStillTheBiggestBoyband went trending. Jimmy Kimmel called BTS “the most popular band in the world” while James called them “the biggest band in the world” as seen on the Twitter posts below. While BTS Army were ecstatic, One Directioners couldn’t help but comment on social media saying 1D is still the biggest boy band there is. Some fans on Twitter say support for any artist is still the best way to go and that there should be no comparisons whatsoever. Others say loud and proud that they are a 1D die hard fan but they won’t drag any other band down for no reason. Others took it upon themselves to do a poll and see who wins. It’s a battle between One Direction, NSync, Backstreet Boys and BTS. Others think its pointless comparing two boy bands who don’t even speak the same language, different genre and style. Other 1D fans follow the group’s advice to “treat people with kindness” and decided to just make peace with BTS fans. One fan, though, tried to clear things out saying BTS is not in any way trying to get 1Ds spot. The user says it all began with an article and said 1D is 1D and BTS is BTS. The user called out BTS fans to stop responding or comparing. Others, well, took advantage of the situation and posted memes instead. Dear Directioners,Please know that BTS is not in any way trying to get 1D's "spot". The problematic post, if I am not mistaken, is from an article. 1D is 1D and BTS is BTS. There's no point in comparing. ARMY, STOP RESPONDING OR COMPARING. VOTE.#1DisStillTheBiggestBoyband — Cee 💓 #TeamCypher (@itsmec33) November 16, 2017 when you're in both fandoms like: #1DisStillTheBiggestBoyband pic.twitter.com/xzipKTeA0O — tedtae bear™ (@tedtaebear) November 17, 2017 DIRECTIONERS, Harry said “Treat People with Kindness”.
