Baguio’s very own Pasa-Kalye artists will play host to 9 Davao artists and 26 artists from Metro Manila in the 3-day Cor-Min Art Exchange from Sep. 1 to 3. This event continues the exchange that started in May of this year, when 17 Baguio artists visited Davao City.
The visit also coincides with the celebration of the city’s 108th Charter Day on Sep. 1. Dubbed the Pasa-Kalye Art X Fusion 3 Baguio Day Art Convergence, it is led by artists involved in the Pasa-Kalye street art program and supported by Barista Creatives, the city government, the Department of Tourism Cordillera and several local business groups, according to Sun Star.
Pasa-Kalye Art X Fusion 3 Activities
One of the highlights of the exchange is to showcase the culture and heritage of the Cordilleras to the visiting artists. Among the activities lined up on Sep. 1 are a guided tour to the Museo Kordilyera of UP and a bonfire at the Dap-ayan of the Philippine Information Agency – Cordillera. Before this, the artists will be part of the Baguio Day parade in the morning.
On Sep. 2, Tam-Awan Village, a famous art space in the city will play host to cultural presentations by the artists and on-the-spot Plein Air painting and portrait sketching. All the artworks produced during the day will be part of the art exhibit at the Porta Vaga Mall, which will be formally opened at 6 p.m. Proceeds of art sales will go to Pasa-Kalye’s special program for dialysis patients.
Visiting artists will spend the last day of the exchange, Sep. 3, at the People’s Park where they will participate in a mural painting activity for Baguio’s REV-BLOOM program. They will also have a chance to interact with National Artist BenCab during the day.
The Davao artists are part of the Tabula Rasa Art Group, while the Manila artists come from the Freedom Art Society. Keep it here for more coverage about the Cor-Min Art Exchange.
