Bad news for those expecting the international pageant here in the Philippines. Unfortunately, the PHL will not be hosting the Miss Universe 2017 Pageant. Tourism secretary Wanda Teo announces the news at the International Conference on Sustainable Tourism for Development in Balesin Island. Despite the Philippines being eyed before as one of the hosts of the upcoming pageants, it looks like it’s not happening this year as stated by a report by ABS-CBN. The Miss Universe Organization expressed that they want it to happen in the Philippines again. This is because of how well it went in the previous run. Unfortunately for this year, a back to back hosting is in conflict with another upcoming event. The government still has to manage and host the  Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) summit. Which is coincidentally also happening in the same month as the pageant: November.

In January, the Philippines hosted the 65th Miss Universe Coronation Night at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Miss Canada Siera Bearchell Follows Pinay Celebs.

In last year’s Miss Universe, Siera Bearchell was a contestant as Miss Canada.
