Philippines Wins Miss Asia Global 2017 Crown

The year 2017 is fast becoming a year for celebrating Filipino beauty, inside and out. This time around, the Philippines grabs the Miss Asia Global 2017 crown. In the coronation event on Nov. 21 Ms. Mary Eve Adeline Escoto, a native of Guimaras, Iloilo province, was crowned by Miss Asia Global 2016 Trixia Marie Marana. Marana is also a Filipino who bagged the crown the previous year.

According to an ABS-CBN report, Ms. Escoto is a 23-year-old physical therapist. The pageant was held in Cochin City, Kerala, India. She also won the Best in National Costume award.

Back-To-Back Wins For The Philippines

Escoto’s win comes at the heels of recent victories of the Philippines in international beauty pageants. On Nov. 4, Karen Ibasco was crowned Miss Earth 2017, besting many candidates to this prestigious title. Also on Nov. 4, the Philippines made history at the Reina Hispanoamericana 2017. Despite it being the country’s first time to join the competition, Winwyn Marquez came home with the crown. This victory is also welcome news after the country’s loss at the Miss International 2017 pageant. Philippine bet Mariel de Leon failed to advance to the top 15.

Will The Philippines’ Winning Streak Continue?

Most Filipino pageant-watchers are hoping that the country’s winning streak continues. Miss Universe Philippines Rachel Peters is currently in the United States to compete for the coveted title. According to news reports on the preliminary competition, she is turning out to be one of the crowd’s favorites.

One day after fan pre-voting for the pageant was launched, the Philippines led in the number of votes, followed closely by Thailand. As voting continues until Nov. 25, Filipinos are encouraged to continue voting for their favorite contestants. Online votes will help favorite candidates secure a spot in the top 15.
