Julie Anne San Jose with Pinulot Ka Lang Sa Lupa cast

“Pinulot Ka Lang Sa Lupa”  premiered on Jan. 30 on GMA 7 afternoon primetime block. The new soap is a reboot of the 1987 classic movie featuring Lorna Tolentino, Gabby Concepcion and Maricel Soriano. The GMA series stars Julie Anne San Jose, Benjamin Alves and LJ Reyes.

Julie Anne San Jose plays the role of Santina Buenavidez-Esquivel, the lead female protagonist. Santina is an orphan who strives to get a better life. She later gets hired as a chef by Diony and falls for Diony’s son, Ephraim.

The character of Ephraim Esquivel is played by Julie Anne San Jose’s real life boyfriend, Benjamin Alvarez. Ephraim is the lead male protagonist in the story. He is the son of Diony and Cesar, and the love interest of Santina. He later finds himself caught between Santina and Angeli.

LJ Reyes plays the role of Senyora Angeli Castillejos-Esquivel, the lead female antagonist. She used to be a homeless girl, but after she got adopted by Diony, she transformed into a selfish and arrogant woman. She hates how productive and happy Santina is with her job as a chef, plus the fact that her adoptive mother sends her to school. Angeli hated her more because Santina’s developing romantic relationship with the man she loves, Ephraim.

Ephraim’s parents, Diony and Cesar Esquivel, are played by Jean Garcia and Victor Neri. Angeli’s neglectful mother, Mariz Castillejos, is played by Ara Mina. Kiko Garela who will try to get the attention of Santina is played by Martin Del Rosario.

Geleen Eugenio plays Yoleng Garela, Janna Dominguez as Chona, Lharby Policarpio as Boggs, Denise Barbacena as Natalia, and Koreen Medina as Laureen.

Pinulot Ka Lang Sa Lupa Jan. 30 Episode

In its first episode, Pinulot Ka Lang Sa Lupa introduced viewers to the characters of Diony, Cesar, young Ephraim and Glenda, Ephraim’s younger sister, who got lost in a fire accident.

Viewers begin to learn that the conflict is about the “supposed” death of Glenda. This will cause significant effect in the future lives of the characters and in the entire flow of the series.

Pinulot Ka Lang Sa Lupa  was written by Marlon Miguel with the help of John Kenneth de Leon, and Maria Priscilla Hidalgo, and was directed by Gina Alajar with Aya Topacio as the second unit director. It airs Mondays to Fridays at 4:15 in the afternoon on GMA 7.
