Pista Ng Pelikulang Pilipino Starts Aug. 16, List Of Films And Screening Schedules Here

The Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino kicks off on Aug. 16 and runs through Aug. 22. Featuring 12 locally-produced films, the festival aims to promote local Filipino films and filmmakers as part of the Buwan ng Wika celebration for the month of August. The festival is organized by the Film Development Council of the Philippines.

The week long festival involves all cinemas nationwide, where the participating films will be screened exclusively and simultaneously in participating theaters. According to a Sun Star report, the curated choices for the festival span across several genres, from romance, drama, action, suspense, and horror.

Full List Of Pista Ng Pelikulang Pilipino Films

A total of 12 films were selected by the Selection Committee composed of Directors Erik Matti and Jose Javier Reyes, screenwriter Ricky Lee and actress Iza Calzado. All of the films were locally produced and helmed by promising filmmakers.

  6. Hamog – starring Zaijan Jaranilla, Teri Malvar, and Sam Quintana
  7. Paglipay – starring Garry Cabalic, Anna Luna, Joan dela Cruz, and Marinella Sevidal
  8. Patay Na Si Hesus – starring Jaclyn Jose
  9. Pauwi Na (Pedicab) – starring Bembol Roco and Cherry Pie Picache
  10. Salvage – starring Jessy Mendiola and JC de Vera
  11. Star na Si Van Damme Stallone – starring Candy Pangilinan, Paolo Pingol, and Jadford Dilanco
  12. Triptiko – starring Kylie Padilla, Kean Cipriano, Albie Casino, and Joseph Marci

Of the 12 films, Pauwi Na (also known as Pedicab) has won Best Film Award at the Shanghai International Film Festival in June 2017.

Screening Schedules In Baguio

Screening schedules are assigned to each film so it is likely that not all 12 films will be shown in participating theaters. For Baguio film lovers, SM City Baguio is the participating local cinema. According to the SM City Baguio’s Facebook page, it will screen 5 of the 12 films of the festival. These are: Ang Manananggal, AWOL, Salvage, Pauwi Na and Bar Boys.

To encourage students to watch the films, the festival offers a student rate of P100 per film for those students in the provinces and P150 for Metro Manila students. To avail of this rate, students must bring their student IDs.
