It was confirmed on Tuesday that President Rodrigo Duterte appointed Cesar Montano as Chief Operating Officer of the Tourism Promotions Board. As head of the agency, actor Cesar Montano is in charge of promoting the tourism programs of the country.

According to GMA, Tourism Secretary Wanda Teo confirmed the appointment after the launch of the ‘Pasko sa Intramuros’ event. She said, “He has been appointed as the head of TPB. The appointment came from the President so we have to follow.”
Secretary Wanda Teo said that Cesar Montano will assume his position on December 15. She added that the appointment paper is ready. They just have to induct the actor on his first day. The actors responsibility is to market and promote the Philippines domestically and internationally. In promoting the countries uniqueness down to assisting its development through products and services, the aim is to increase tourist arrivals and tourism investment. That’s according to the Tourism Act of 2009.
This is not Cesar Montano’s first appointment by a President. In 2012 the Inquirer reported that President Benigno Aquino III appointed him to the Optical Media Board (OMB). He was a special envoy for art, culture and film-digital.

The 54-year-old actor has been a vocal supporter of President Rodrigo Duterte. He attended the President’s inauguration in June. Montano was also part of the President’s business delegation to Beijing. He was looking for investors for an upcoming movie.
Cesar Montano has tried numerous times to get into elective office. In 2007 he tried to run for Senatorial elections. In 2010, he ran as governor of Bohol and as a party-list representative in 2016.
Montano is an actor, film producer, director and singer. With this new career, Secretary Teo tells ABS-CBN, “This will be a learning process for him. He will help us in the holding of the Miss Universe.”
Cesar Montano, who will soon be COO of the c is from Baclayon Bohol and graduated engineering at Lyceum of the Philippines in Intramuros, Manila. He has three daughters with actress Sunshine Cruz. He and Sunshine separated in 2014.
