President Duterte spoke during the event that marked the three year tragedy of Supertyphoon “Yolanda” in Tacloban City. VP Leni and President Duterte were in the midst of hundreds of people when he tried to get facts from the Vice President about her ‘boyfriend.’ President Rodrigo Duterte To VP Leni Robredo, ‘Ma’am, Balita Ko, May Boyfriend Ka Raw?’ President Duterte asked VP Leni Robredo if indeed she had a boyfriend. He said, “Ma’am, is it true you have a boyfriend?” while on stage. VP Leni just laughed. President Duterte wanted to know more and said, “Is it true?” VP Robredo just smiled and shook her head when asked the second time. Duterte also teased VP Leni about the idea of being together. He said,” Well I would come here because VP is here. Wherever she goes, I would go. The problem is she’s a widow. I am annulled but I have kids. (Nevermind,) The important thing is I support them.” In an Inquirer report, President Duterte said he teases VP Robredo during their meetings to lighten the mood when their meetings become boring. Duterte mentioned that he and Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez checked out Robredo’s knees during a Cabinet meeting. He said VP Leni would always wear skirts that are shorter than usual. He advised her to wear shorts next time, but after a few meetings, VP Leni sat away from Duterte. To top off this flirtatious moment, Duterte sang a line from the song “Malayo Ang Tingin.” VP Leni Robredo Responds, “Nasanay Na Ako” VP Leni ‘deliberately’ chose to ignore the comments. In an ambush interview with Inquirer on Tuesday, Robredo said “Actually, I’m used to it. He always likes to tease me and joke around. I’m used to it.” According to the Inquirer, VP Robredo released a statement saying, “But many were bothered and offended by it. As we all rightly should. Tasteless remarks and inappropriate advances against women should have no place in our society.
