The whole world is back at royal-watching once again with the news of the official engagement of Prince Harry and actress Meghan Markle. With the royal wedding scheduled in May 2018, the soon-to-be royal couple has begun the preparations for the affair.
While preparations are underway, royal observers and the public are already speculating on who will be part of the guest list. According to Entertainment Tonight Online, the wedding will likely be star-studded because of the couple’s celebrity friends.
The Royal Wedding: 5 Things We Know So Far
According to an article in People, Prince Harry and Meghan’s wedding will definitely be different from Prince William and Kate Middleton’s wedding in 2011.
1. Given that the younger prince is fifth in line to the throne, he is not obligated to follow the same traditional wedding ceremony that his older brother had. Thus, he and his soon-to-be wife have some freedom in their hands to do what they want. In a separate report, the couple is said to be considering having a banana wedding cake because of the prince’s love for the fruit.
2. Without the same “pomp and circumstance” as his brother’s nuptials, the wedding will also be celebrated in a much smaller church. The St. Georges Chapel in Windsor Castle holds up to 800 guests, as opposed to Westminster Abbey’s 2,000-capacity.
3. Speculation is growing about the bride’s wedding gown, which may not be as grand as Kate’s, but is just as special. According to the Independent, an Israeli haute couture brand Inbal Dror has been asked by the Palace to design Meghan’s wedding dress. In fact, sketches of the dresses have been shared by the brand’s Vice President for marketing. The designer’s wedding dresses cost around 6,000 to 9,000 British pounds each in a bridal boutique in London, but personalized dresses such that of Meghan’s can cost much more.
4. Smaller guest list but celebrities galore – is what most reports are saying about the wedding guest list. While some royal guests will likely grace the important event, Meghan’s friends from Hollywood will likely show their support for her. These include Serena Williams, Priyanka Chopra and Patrick J. Adams. Prince Harry also has his own circle of celebrity friends such as David and Victoria Beckham, Rihanna, Cara Delevingne and Margot Robbie.
5. Don’t forget the prominent politicians. On top of this list would be former U.S. President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama, who are longtime friends of the prince. Meghan is not to be left behind as well, as she just may invite Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
