Geographically, the Philippines is located near the equator and is known to have tropical weather. We cannot change the fact that almost half of the year is expected to be a rainy season. So, why don’t we just enjoy and have fun through the rain Pinoy style?

Here are some “Gawaing Pinoy” things you can do during  the rainy season

1.Cook the best rainy day food

Filipinos are known for their native dishes. Aside from the famous adobo, Filipinos have famous rainy day season dishes. When it rains it becomes cold and we tend to crave for something that will keep us warm. Cooking and eating all-time favorites such as champorado, lugaw, sopas, and bilo-bilo will definitely make you love the weather despite the strong rain.

2.Play the best Pinoy indoor games

A class suspension is so familiar to kids especially when there is a typhoon. Kids can still play and be productive even if it’s raining. Sungka, Luksong Baka, Pen-pen de sarapen and nanay-tatay are some Pinoy indoor games that will keep your kids away from games in gadgets and take them to more physical and mind games. Playing the best Pinoy indoor games will surely kill your boredom and will keep the family bond alive as well.

3. Watch movies at home

The cold rain usually provokes sad emotion even if we don’t want to. Watching movies will keep your mood right where it’s supposed to be. If you can’t go outside because of the rain, try to watch movies at home with your family. Watching movies at home will help you still enjoy the rain. There are movie genres that you can choose from.  If watching with friends or your favorite siblings, you could go for horror or thriller, if with your special someone you could always go for romantic comedies, and for the family you could go for comedy. Sky is the limit.

4. Let Kids be Kids

Filipinos especially kids have this kind of characteristics that when it rains they play under the rain like as if it is a big shower. They usually play along the rain doing paper boats and let it flow with the water or swim in a flood like it’s a big swimming pool. In the Philippines, even if they have disasters like floods you can still see Filipinos smiling and somewhat. It’s something pinoys will understand.

5. Siesta

Filipinos are very fond of sleeping especially in the afternoon. They got this kind of habit from the Spanish and was called Siesta. The rain or humid will really stimulate us to be sleepy. If can’t go out then sleep. Take a rest and enjoy the weather.
