5th update (11:30 a.m.) – Police have discovered 37 bodies in Resorts World Manila, including the gunman who apparently burned himself to death. Thirty six victims who reportedly died due to suffocation were found in the casino area, which the lone gunman set on fire early on. According to a CNN Philippines report, CCTV footage of the incident only show one person responsible. The armed suspect who was described as foreign-looking was found in room 510 where he reportedly doused himself in gasoline and burned himself up while lying down in the bed.

4th update (9:00 a.m.) – Resorts World Manila posted an update via Facebook. They are waiting for the official statement from the PNP. It is confirmed, however, that there are thirty individuals who were brought to nearby hospitals for medical attention. According to CNN, a man forced his way into Resorts World setting some gambling tables on fire. Dela Rosa said the gunman was a six footer “foreigner-looking” man. Report says the gunman has been killed.

3rd Update (6:30 a.m.) – The Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa said police are looking at robbery as the motive.

“We’re looking at robbery as an angle because he stole, he barged into the storage room for casino chips. He took the chips, put them inside his backpack but eventually left it. We have recovered the backpack,” Dela Rosa told reporters.

2nd Update (2:20 am)- There are no more explosions and gunshots.  Smoke is still coming out of the buildings. Police, emergency crew, and helicopters are at the scene.

Resorts World Manila On Lockdown

There are reports of gunfire and explosions at the hotel in Pasay City sometime after midnight Friday local time. Metropolitan Manila Development Authority reported that there is a “fire alert” at the Resorts World Manila about 12:30 a.m. local time.

Videos posted on social media show hotel guests running out of the resorts with sounds of apparent gunfire in the background.

In a tweet, Resorts World Manila said it is “currently on lockdown following reports of gunfire from unidentified men.”
