Rina Fukushi, a 17-year-old Filipino-Japanese model, joined Miuccia Prada’s runway girl gang bringing that ultra-cool vibe and eye-catching beauty that does not go unnoticed. She continues to make waves in the fashion scene in Europe and New York for designer brands Alexander Wang, Bottega Veneta, Chloe, Miu Miu and Marc Jacobs.
Vogue Discovered Rina Fukushi
Vogue discovered Rina’s gorgeous eyes, thick brows and pouting lips when she was only 14 years old. Although she still lives with her family until now, she is considered a veteran in the runway, especially in this year’s fashion season in Paris, Milan and New York.
She believed she could be a star from the moment she was scouted. At the same time, she couldn’t believe that her being discovered is real. Her very first Paris experience was at the Fall season of Louis Vuitton. She felts that she already learned so much from Nicolas Ghesquière and the team.
Rina is Like any other High School Teenager
Rina finds time to study despite her busy schedule in modeling. She hopes to finish high school on March. When she is with her friends and family, she loves listening to music and would even grab the mic and do karaoke. She always has fun documenting such moments with her camera. Rina also loves Anime and follows the work of Studio Ghibli and Hayao Miyazaki. Princess Mononoke’ and ‘My Neighbor Totoro’ are among two of her favorite Anime shows.

Rina has a knack for vintage clothes shopping makes it a point to visit vintage shops for great finds. Her personal style is all about nuance.
If she shops she goes to thrift stores in New York, Paris and Milan. When she is home, she never fails to visit Tokyo’s vintage shops for pieces from the 70’s rock ‘n’ roll glory days.
Rina’s Beauty Comes from a Diverse Heritage
Her unique look is attributed to diverse cultures. Her father is Japanese-American while her mother is Spanish-Filipina. She was born in Manila and then moved to Japan, her home. Fact? She still knows how to speak Tagalog!
With the likes of Rina Fukushi, it is amazing how the Filipino heritage is making waves in the fashion industry. Again, this is another example of the Philippines being fashionably world-class!
