The SAG awards are given by actors to their fellow actors to recognize the best in their field. Actors like Viola Davis, Sarah Paulson, Emma Stone and Denzel Washington were those who grabbed awards in the prestigious event. The full list of nominations and winners are seen below but what caught the attention of many were speeches from actors like David Harbour from ‘Stranger Things,’ Sarah Paulson and Ashton Kutcher’s opening to SAG Awards with remarks on Trump’s Muslim Ban. This year’s SAG Awards were a bit different because of the recent change of political power in the United States. A week ago, Donald Trump assumed office as the President of the United States and actors couldn’t help but comment on the recent issues that hit the country. CNN even says the awards got political. Twitterverse Compilation: SAG Awards 2017 First tweet shows Ashton Kutcher’s opening remarks. In the video, Ashton said, “Good evening fellow SAG members and everyone at home and everyone in airports that belong in my America. You are a part of the fabric of who we are, and we love and we welcome you.” Right after this his remark he said, “We also welcome you to the 23 Annual Screen Actors Guild Award.” #sagawards pic.twitter.com/3BGDGa0FLC — SAG Awards® (@SAGawards) January 30, 2017 The next tweet shows a tweet given by Taraji P. Henson when she and the rest of the cast accepted the award for Outstanding performance by a Cast Motion Picture for “Hidden Figures.” Taraji talked about how the story is about what happens when people put their difference aside and went on to say, “We come together as a human race. We win, love wins every time.” “We stand here as proud actors." – @TherealTaraji on behalf of the cast of @HiddenFigures pic.twitter.com/7oL24Vpo5V — SAG Awards® (@SAGawards) January 30, 2017 Another speech was that of David Harbour when he and the cast of “Stanger Things” accepted the Best Drama award. David said, “We will shelter freaks and outcasts those who have no home, we will get past the lies, we will hunt monsters.” Winona Ryder is seen very agreeable to David’s speech. Her face says it all. Viola Davis also nabbed the Best Female Supporting actor. And during her acceptance speech, Viola said she wanted to change diversity into inclusion. Mahershala Ali, a Muslim, also made headlines as he spoke about acceptance.
