Sala/ Photo by Moe Abellera Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Sala at The Camp is nothing short of leisure. Should a group of friends want to enjoy that much needed down time from the stressful metro life or to simply do some catching up, this is definitely the place for that luxury. Everything here invites conversation. When you walk in and see just how many sala sets there are in this relaxing and spacious living room, you know for sure that choosing a spot for your possee is Sala’s first real perk. Once you’ve picked your own little living room, place your orders for Sala’s brilliant 20-Peso-Coffee and get talking! You’ll instantly forget how big the place is. You wouldn’t even mind who’s at the little living room. The Sala, Photo by Moe Abellera For anyone who considers themselves detailed, Sala is a treat. From bookshelves, boardgames, and the little heirlooms you’d see from the 90’s that you just know are of childhood memories, all of the things to see are nostalgic and interesting. Sala’s color-stained windows and interior brick walls embellished by art and intricate murals makes the place a contemporary art gallery. Now, this is pop culture at its best. These paintings were what Sala’s owner used to sell but decided to use to liven up the place. This is actually a brilliant move. If you run out of things to talk about and you just happen to see Darth Vader’s portrait up that reads, “Your Father,” I don’t think anyone will be hush about that, right? You know what I mean? Sala is pretty good at making sure the stories keep coming. Sala/ Photo by Moe Abellera Sala: A Comfy Lounge The thing is, it is the ladies that Sala was thinking about all along. They wanted a space for the girls and their amigas to call their own. And, I must say, the tea-party-meets-lounge ambiance is pretty inviting. But of course, the place is not just for the ladies. Sala is a modern-day lounge that feels like a home’s living room. It is simple, you see. You sit down in your very own sala or “mini living room” with those who matter to you, and enjoy your time with some great food and drinks. If you don’t want to talk, then play boardgames or read books, you can even write. No pressure at all. But for those who love to eat more than talk? Sala only gets better with their best comfort food! Sala/ Photo by Moe Abellera The first thing that won us over is their Pizza Fries. Who doesn’t want to start a meal with some deep fried potatoes blanketed with pizza sauce and melted, gooey mozzarella cheese, ei? All things pizza + fries need no explanation, just sighs and swoons. Pizza Fries, The Sala/ Photo by Moe Abellera If that isn’t enough, munch your heart out with their Deep Fried Brie – breaded cheese chunks that is also deep fried. This will seriously get your cheese on! The best thing this dish includes is having some homemade marinara sauce as its dip. It wakes up any bored palate instantly. Sort of like espresso when you’re still literally a zombie in the morning. Deep Fried Brie, The Sala/ Photo by Moe Abellera If you are a bit hungrier than the usual, the Chicken Cutlet is a sure winner. It is basically breaded tender chicken breast (again, deep fried!) that is snuggled by some tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese and chiffonade ham. It comes with their creamy and perfectly seasoned mash. To make things even tastier, their homemade dipping sauce comes with it. You will forget to breathe for a few seconds after an oh-so-yummy mouthful! Chicken Cutlet, The Sala/ Photo by Moe Abellera Next up is the Pork Ribs. Now this is for the lovers of the juicy! These ribs made tender with barbecue sauce is beautifully served with a shrimp potato salad. Again another real perk – shrimp! There is always a pop of excitement here, you know? The potatoes, on the other hand, are made crusty with the impeccable herb rub. It is comfort food with a touch of some gourmet shindig. You should seriously try this! Pork Ribs, The Sala/ Photo by Moe Abellera The most enticing, we think, of all these comforting food is their 5 Sliders. Whatever your mood may be, there is that perfect slider for you. Each one is different and just the right size for anyone craving. Foodies may have either have the juicy beef patty, the to-die-for bacon, the sausage, the fish fillet, and the most unexpected of all – chicken skin! Yep, you got that right. A slider with chicken skin! Sala did the unthinkable here! Genius! 5 Sliders, The Sala/ Photo by Moe Abellera Now, because of how great this place is for conversations and meet ups, Pilipinas Popcorn celebrates its first year anniversary at Sala on September 16. It will be an awesome gathering of creative minds, featuring some of our most favorite social media influencers, online workers and adventure bloggers in the digital realm.
