This yearly contest is to honor the year’s “iconic” individuals under the categories of film, music videos, TV shows, Youtube uploads, and more. Unknowingly for the Tawag ng Tanghalan star, Sam Mangubat gets nominated by his fans under the Choice Youtuber category. The nomination period ends on June 9 at 9 a.m. Teen Choice 2007 airs on August 13 on Fox. Sam Mangubat gets nominated for Choice YouTuber Fox Teen Choice commences a live airing of the awarding, likewise, the voting is done online. In Twitter, fans tweet their choices for their preferred star. Here at home, Sam Mangubat gets nominated as the only Filipino YouTuber vying for the Choice YouTuber spot. The 22-year old vocalist uploads covers of songs from international and local artists alike. He has been active for ten years and has over 86,000 subscribers and more than 15 million total views. Other candidates include mostly YouTube Bloggers such as the Dolan twins (Grayson and Ethan Dolan), Nate Garner, Rose Ellen Dix, and Jesse Conte. Nominees who upload song covers like Sam are Logan Paul and Jesse Conte– although neither are purely musical content, unlike Sam’s. Meanwhile, some of the Youtubers mentioned were Lauren Riihimaki or LaurDIY who makes instructional crafts videos. It’s a salad bowl of nominees as everyone is welcome to cast their vote. The most-mentioned personalities as of the moment are Lilly Singh, most commonly known as SuperwomanII and Nate Garner. Last year, the winner of the Choice Youtuber were the Dolan twins.
