Sam Mangubat and Froilan Canlas definitely surprised Tawag Ng Tanghalan judges on Friday’s episode earning them a hundred percent standing ovation from the hurados. Both singers had to perform a song out of their comfort zone and to everyone’s surprise, they delivered.
Sam Mangubat sings ‘Remember Me’
Sam Mangubat was given the song “Remember Me” by Renz Verano. Sam says he guesses the hurados gave him this song to challenge him because, through the competition, he rarely sings OPM songs. Right after his performance, Vice said “Sumosyal,” while all hurados gave him a standing ovation.
Punong hurado Rey Valera thanked him for putting this “crazy idea” into a reality. He said this move was to try to put him closer to the masses and even said now, he loves Sam.
Froilan Canlas sings ‘Sana Ay Ikaw Nanga’
Hurados know that Froilan Canlas has the falsetto and a powerful voice. They called him an old soul because of his song choices. Hurados gave him the OPM hit by Basil Valdez, “Sana Ay Ikaw Nanga.” And yes, Froilan’s signature falsetto voice was there!
A hundred percent standing ovation from hurados as well! Erik Santos was teary-eyed as he said Froilan was able to bring out the emotion the song demanded from him. “Iba Ka” says hurado Billy and said that he was he one who actually chose the song for him and said he really wasn’t so sure about it. But Billy said he has a powerful but sweet falsetto voice and his dynamics, great! This makes him believe that Froilan can indeed sing any genre given to him.
Fans on Twitter can’t help but express how they feel about Sam and Froilan’s performances
